The French art center « Taverne Gutenberg » was founded by French-Filipina designer Maïa d’Aboville and international artist Henri Lamy. It has exhibited over 400 artists and has had over 30,000 visitors since its creation in 2015, in Lyon. As part of its first international residency program, Taverne Gutenberg brings four international visual artists: Henri Lamy, Chufy, Alex Beretta and Abdoul K.

Seck from Lyon (France) to Manila, more specifically to Poblacion (Makati) where they will be offered accommodation and a working space open to the public by main sponsor Z Hostel. The artists will work together with several local partner groups involved with street children (NGOs, foundations & museums such as Project Pearls, Museo Pambata & Stairway Foundation). The artists’ mission will be to promote and share art to make it accessible to Filipinos, and more specifically street children. This project also aims to reinforce ties between France and Philippines, celebrating the 70th year of diplomatic relations between the two countries. From painting monumental outdoor murals, to giving out free art workshops to street-kids, creating exhibits and free events, and opening up the studios to the public. Please come and visit their studio at the Ruins at 5852 Alfonso Street, Poblacion, only 30 meters away from Z Hostel. An important part of the project will be the documentary which will be a collaboration between French film director Simon Dubreucq, French photographer Lionel Rault and Filipino Media Production Company Sine de Oro.

Thx everyone who attended yesterday. Kids have been inspired by use of skotchtape and abstract. I also teach them at every class how to mix painting so they can obtain a range of colour and depth in their figurative compositions. I also show them to differentiate light to dark and how it can help create the impression of volume. Very happy about yesterday’s lesson. Next week Wednesday and Friday again. 11:30 to 12:30 and individual booking for adults is still available.
