the 1st Place winner of the 2025 National Pastel Competition β is a breathtaking pastel painting by Lance Kirby T. Yaneza.
The workβs title, Lilipad ng Malaya (βWill Fly Freeβ), evokes both flight and freedom β a visual poem about the Filipino spiritβs resilience. Using soft pastels, Yaneza captures a dynamic interplay of light, motion, and symbolism: wings unfolding, colors breaking from darkness, and figures reaching toward the sky. Itβs a portrait of liberation β not only political or physical, but deeply spiritual and emotional.
