One of the real skills an event host develops over time is chaotic multitasking with calm energy.

In this video, I am literally solving an on-the-spot event concern with my coordinators and program assistant, while also mentally locked in on the mother of the bride’s speech like I am not doing ten things at once.

Because the goal is not just to react, but to catch every meaningful detail in real time and turn it into something that connects the next segment and makes the whole program feel intentional and alive.

Behind a ā€œsmooth programā€ is a host switching lanes between logistics, timing, emotion, and storytelling… without missing a beat.

This is what you do when you’ve been in the game long enough. You stop panicking, and you start orchestrating.

This is how a professional does it. This is how does it.

Rainy morning but we still show up. On my way to Day 3 of Batch 18 and my heart is full knowing I’ve got mentees from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao waiting. 21 aspiring and experienced hosts, all in.

As a mentor, I don’t take that lightly. I’m here to make sure they maximize every minute, every lesson, every opportunity.

Rain or shine, we show up. Day 3, here we come. šŸ”„

Hosting for 350 guests at the Philippine Army for Ma’am Letty’s retirement dinner and birthday celebration. ā¤ļø

It was a Friday, most of the guests had just come from work, and we had a five hour celebration ahead of us.

So I knew I had to start STRONG.

Not just to get everyone’s attention, but to make them understand why this occasion mattered.

This wasn’t just a birthday celebration. We were celebrating 40 years of her career, the people she had worked with, the relationships she built along the way, and the closing of one very meaningful chapter of her life as she begins another.

And as a host, I wanted everyone in that room to feel that significance right from the very beginning.

I wanted them to feel that this was a celebration worth staying for.

And they did. ā¤ļø

Majority of the guests stayed until the end, had a great time, and most importantly, Ma’am Letty truly felt the love from her colleagues, family, and friends.

That’s what a strong program opening can do.

It doesn’t just start the program.

It sets the tone for the entire celebration.

Pinays don’t run towards the bouquet šŸ’ā€¦ they run AWAY šŸ˜

So here’s how you flip it as a host… same tradition, different game.

ā€œLadies, relax lang… we’re still doing the bouquet toss… but not the usual wayā€¦ā€

(pa-pause šŸ‘€)

ā€œBride will be tossing… not one bouquet… but a bundle of single stem flowers.ā€

(let them process)

ā€œAnd here’s the twist… if there are 8 of you… we only have 7 flowers šŸ˜Œā€

(boom)

ā€œSo whoever doesn’t get one… you might be next šŸ‘€ā€

Watch them move.
No more takbuhan. Biglang may urgency.

ā€œBride, make sure your aim is strong ha… mukhang lahat biglang interesadoā€¦ā€

Reverse psychology with a twist.
Now they don’t just want it… they NEED it šŸ˜‚

Let the bride feel that energy. Let the moment build.
That’s your job as a host.

No dull moments, just good vibes all night. Here's my for Mama Fe’s 70th. šŸŽ¤ eventsph hostlife

Episode 1: Don’t make the same mistake I did.

😔Masungit sa co suppliers.😔

Eight to nine years ago, that was me.

Focused ako sa program, yes. Alam ko ginagawa ko, yes. But the way I showed up? Closed off. Minsan may RBF. Minsan ang ikli sumagot. Minsan parang hindi approachable.

And people noticed.

Hindi man sinabi sa harap ko agad, pero it got around. ā€œMasungit si host.ā€ ā€œAng hirap lapitan.ā€ ā€œParang galit lagi.ā€

That was a wake up call.

Because here’s the truth. Hindi ka lang host sa stage. Part ka ng buong team. Coordinators, photo video, lights and sounds, lahat kayo may iisang goal. To make the event work.

And if your energy makes people uncomfortable, you’re not helping the program. You’re making it harder.

So I changed.

I learned how to communicate better under pressure. Smile even when I’m stressed. Be firm without sounding harsh. And actually build relationships with my co suppliers.

Because talent will get you booked.
But your attitude will get you recommended.

Hindi sapat na magaling ka.
Kailangan masarap kang katrabaho.

Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Hosting without my spinner vs. with my spinner. šŸ˜‚

There’s a very big difference between ā€œI’ll figure it outā€ and ā€œPapa, play the music please.ā€ 🤣

First clip: my husband stepped out, the background music was too loud, I couldn’t find the volume control, and suddenly I was promoted from event host to part time sound tech. šŸ˜‚ Done in 10 minutes. 🤪

So what did I do?

Pressed buttons. Turned switches. Adjusted things I wasn’t even sure I was supposed to touch… until FINALLY, something worked. 😭

Second clip: husband is back.
I made the request.
He plays the music.
I do the voiceover.
Everybody is happy. šŸ˜‚ Done in 30 seconds.

This is why I love working with my favorite spinner. I know my job, he knows his. And when we stick to our respective lanes… beautiful things happen. šŸ˜‚

16 hours fasting, then straight to real fuel šŸ’Æā˜•ļøšŸ°šŸ› No crew meals needed when your baon hits like this.

Pre-event ritual namin ni Papa: kain sa kotse, quick reset, then full send sa program.

Because energy on stage starts with what you feed yourself off stage šŸ˜‰

And yes… hindi mawawala ang dessert. Cecilia’s buko tart supremacy everytime may Tagaytay event 😌

POV: You survived 8 hours of love, speeches, and emotional damage… and you’re STILL here. Respect.

This is how I close a wedding program. It’s never just ā€œthank you and goodnight.ā€ I make sure people feel seen, appreciated, and part of the couple’s story.

And right when you think it’s over? That’s where I flip the energy.

From heartfelt… to LET’S PARTY.

Because if you stayed until the end, you deserve the after party energy. šŸ”„

Event Hosting Workshop by Keren Angara (Batch 18) is officially underway! šŸŽ¤āœØ

21 new mentees and another beautiful journey begins.

Day 1 came right after a six hour event in Tagaytay, a semi outdoor wedding in nonstop pouring rain brought by the typhoon, and only three hours of sleep.

Dinaan na lang sa kape. ā˜•ļøšŸ˜‚

Puffy eyes, lots of coffee, and somehow I still showed up for Batch 18.

I even forgot to take our official Day 1 group photo, but thankfully, I accidentally pressed the screenshot button on my laptop. šŸ˜‚

And I guess this is a reminder that hosting is not always about showing up when everything is perfect.

Neither is mentoring.

I have mentored through exhaustion, after a loss, and on days when I had very little left to give. But I still show up with 100% of my energy and dedication because I truly value the relationship I build with every mentee.

When you care about what you do and who you do it for, you find a way to show up.

And now, I cannot wait for Days 2 and 3 this August 15 and 16!

Welcome to Batch 18, my 21 new Energetic mentees. ā¤ļøšŸŽ¤
