Happy Mother’s Day to our mommas who 𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 and loved us endlessly even on our 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨. 🫶🥺

And especially, shout out on every non-biological mother, who also protects us, stands like a true mother, and loves us constantly, this day is also for yall. 💖🥰

Who is Antonino R. Buenaventura? 💙❔❔
Antonino R. Buenaventura was a Filipino composer, conductor, teacher, and soldier. Born on May 4, 1904 in Baliuag, Bulacan, 𝓱𝓮 𝓬𝓪𝓶𝓮 𝓯𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓪 𝓯𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝔂 𝓸𝓯 𝓶𝓾𝓼𝓲𝓬𝓲𝓪𝓷𝓼 — his father Lucino led the Spanish Artillery Band.

His achievements
𝓞𝓷𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓰𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓼𝓽 contributions was championing Filipino identity in music. How did he do this? In 1935, he joined 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙖 𝙍𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨-𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙠𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨. He blended these ethnic melodies with Western orchestral forms, proving Filipino music belonged on the world stage. 🕯🎙

He composed the accompaniment for 𝖯𝖺𝗇𝖽𝖺𝗇𝗀𝗀𝗈 𝗌𝖺 𝖨𝗅𝖺𝗐 𝗂𝗇 1936. Many people mistake it for a traditional folk song, but the music was actually his arrangement. 🎼🎤

He was named 𝓝𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓐𝓻𝓽𝓲𝓼𝓽 𝓯𝓸𝓻 𝓜𝓾𝓼𝓲𝓬 𝓲𝓷 1988 and passed away on 𝓙𝓪𝓷𝓾𝓪𝓻𝔂 25, 1996. His legacy lives on through his efforts for the history of our country and his talents in music.

🎤𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜—𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗯𝘆𝗮𝗯, also known as "𝙈𝙧. 𝘾," expanded his 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 during the pandemic. 🎨🇵🇭

Revisiting a 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 from his youth—where he once won a 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. ✨🖌️He explored acrylic painting, notably creating "𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙨"👀 and abstract pieces that evoke solitude and "𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙚."🎶

He was a preeminent Filipino novelist, poet, playwright, and journalist, honored as a 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒕 of the 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 for 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆.🖋📜

He is Best known for works in English that explore 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮, 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, and 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚, he often wrote under the pen name "𝑸𝒖𝒊𝒋𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒅𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒍𝒂", often compared to 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑹𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒍 because of his impact.🇵🇭💥

Today, we honor the 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗣. 𝗗𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗼𝗻

‎Felipe P. De Leon was a well-known 𝔽𝕚𝕝𝕚𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕠 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕠𝕤𝕖𝕣 who showed his deep love for the Philippines through his music. His works often reflect Filipino life, traditions, and values. Through his compositions, he helped people understand and appreciate Filipino culture more, both in the country and in other places around the world.

‎He believed that music is an important way to express who we are as Filipinos. Because of this, he created many songs and musical pieces that highlight national pride and identity. His works are still remembered and performed today, keeping Filipino heritage alive through music.

‎ In 1997, he was named a 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰, one of the highest honors given to Filipino artists, for his great contribution to Philippine music and culture.

✍️He wrote the lyrics of the Filipino lullaby "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan". He also composed folk songs including "Ako ay May Singsing", "Ang Pipit", "Dungawin Mo Hirang", "Itik-Itik", "Pitong Gatang", and "Waray-Waray". “Ang Pasko ay Sumapit", officially titled "Maligayang Pasko at Masaganang Bagong Taon" is a well-known Christmas song by Celerio.🎄🎤

Yesterday, we commemorate the birth anniversary of Hernando R. Ocampo, a visionary in 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝑨𝒓𝒕 🎨

His works often reflect the 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒔𝒉 realities of the country after the 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙧. Yet, many of his pieces also portray 𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒉 scenery and the diverse 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒔 of the Philippines through his skillful use of 𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙚 and 𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙙 colors. 🌿
