🎮 Did You Know THIS about Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare on PS1? 👀

🕯️ The game was one of the first survival horror titles to use a real-time flashlight system!
Instead of fully lit rooms, players had to explore dark areas using light to reveal enemies and clues. 🔦

😱 It featured two playable characters:

Edward Carnby 🧥
Aline Cedrac 📚

Each character had different paths, story scenes, and puzzles!

🏚️ The game brought back the Alone in the Dark franchise after years of silence and helped revive classic survival horror gameplay during the PS1 era.

🎵 Its creepy atmosphere, fixed camera angles, and cinematic soundtrack gave strong Resident Evil and Silent Hill vibes.

📅 Released in Europe on May 18, 2001 for the PlayStation.

💀 Fun Fact:
The game was also released on Dreamcast, PS2, PC, and Game Boy Color—but many fans still remember the PS1 version for its dark horror atmosphere and tension-filled exploration.

RETRO GHAB On This Day Video Game Trivia :

The game was released in 2006 for the Game Boy Advance alongside versions for home consoles.

Its story acts as a bridge between the movies X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Unlike the console versions, the GBA edition uses a 2D side-scrolling action style instead of full 3D gameplay.

Players can control three major X-Men heroes:
🎮 Wolverine
🎮 Nightcrawler
🎮 Iceman

Each character has unique gameplay mechanics:
Wolverine focuses on melee combat and regeneration.
Nightcrawler can teleport across gaps and enemies.
Iceman creates ice paths and ranged attacks.

The game was developed by Amaze Entertainment, a studio known for handheld adaptations of console games.
The GBA version contains levels and gameplay sections that differ greatly from the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions because of hardware limitations.

Retro Ghab Game Trivia about JINMENJU

Here are some cool trivia facts about the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night enemy Jinmenju, also called the Human Face Tree.

The Human Face Tree is exclusive to the Sega Saturn version of SOTN and does not appear in the original PlayStation release.

It appears in the Saturn-only area called the Underground Garden, one of the extra locations added to the port.

The monster is based on a real Japanese yokai called Jinmenju (人面樹) — literally “human-faced tree.” In folklore, the tree grows smiling human heads as fruit.

According to the legend, the fruit constantly laughs, and if it laughs too hard, it falls from the tree by itself.

In the game, the Human Face Tree attacks by launching its creepy face-fruits at Alucard.
