The tenderness of a mother whose heart is filled with compassion. Having received the fullness of God's grace, she extends maternal care to all who seek her intercession, always leading them to Christ.

Her mercy is reflected in her readiness to comfort the sorrowful, strengthen the weak, and pray for sinners. Like her Son, she responds not with condemnation but with love that calls every soul to conversion and hope.

To contemplate Mary under this title is to learn the virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and charity. In her merciful heart, we find an invitation to trust more deeply in God's infinite mercy and to extend that same mercy to others.

Latest work from Totus Tuus Heraldic Studios, the Coat of Arms of the Saint John the Baptist Parish, Castilla, Sorsogon of the Diocese of Sorsogon.

With hearts full of gratitude and joy, the Parish of St. John the Baptist in Castilla marks a momentous chapter in its history as we celebrate our 150th Parish Fiesta, commemorating a century and a half of God's abiding presence, grace, and providence among His people.

This historic milestone is further enriched as we join the Diocese of Sorsogon in celebrating its 75th Jubilee Anniversary—a testament to seventy-five years of faithful pastoral ministry, evangelization, and service to the People of God. Together, these celebrations invite us to reflect on our shared heritage of faith and to renew our commitment to the mission entrusted to us by Christ.

To honor these significant anniversaries and to preserve the identity and legacy of our parish for future generations, we commissioned Mr. John Paul M. Aven of Totus Tuus Heraldic Studios to create the Official Coat of Arms of St. John the Baptist Parish – Castilla. Carefully crafted in accordance with the traditions of ecclesiastical heraldry, this sacred emblem visually expresses the history, patronage, spirituality, and mission of our parish, while also reflecting our communion with the Diocese of Sorsogon during its Jubilee Year.

It is with profound gratitude and pride that we present the Official Coat of Arms of St. John the Baptist Parish – Castilla, a lasting symbol of our faith, our history, and our enduring hope in Christ.

Viva Señor San Juan Bautista! ✨💛

O Holy Mary, my mother,
into your blessed trust and custody,
and into the care of your mercy
I this day, every day,
and in the hour of my death,
commend my soul and my body.
To you I commit all my anxieties and miseries,
my life and the end of my life,
that by your most holy intercession
and by your merits
all my actions may be directed
and disposed
according to your will
and that of your Son.
Amen.

The field is a party per fess Or (gold) with a chief in Vert (green). The fleur-de-lis in Argent (silver) in the chief signifies the titular patroness of the cathedral of Catarman, the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of the Annun- ciation. The five gouts (drops) of blood in Gules (red) in a field Or signifies the Christianization of Samar island. According to the heraldic profile provided by ecclesiastical heraldist Archbishop Mariano Madriaga, "etymologically, the name of the island (Samar) which comprises the territory of the diocese comes from samad meaning a wound." He added, "Since the missionaries that worked hard in the evangelization of Samar were Franciscans, the promoters of the devotion to the Five Wounds of our Savior, five bleeding wounds are seen on the shield." The miter symbolizes the episcopal dignity that is a mark of the Holy Spirit that signifies the utmost approval of the bishop in the use of this emblem as pastor of the Diocese.
