Last night, I went on a brutal losing streak in Ranked.
Not just your usual losing streak I kept getting beat by lower ranked players, and I could barely keep my matches close against players at my own rank.
What made it worse was knowing exactly why I was playing badly. I was making wrong punishments, mashing on minus frames, throwing out predictable hopekicks, relying on D2,3 to steal turns, and constantly looking for heavy moves instead of actually practicing small Tekken.
I could feel myself getting angrier with every game. I knew I needed to stop when I got demoted from halfway past GoD IV back to GoD III… but I kept playing anyway.
I also couldn't stop thinking about how badly I played in my last offline tournament, and that just made the frustration even worse.
At one point, I was so pi**ed at myself that I wanted to slam my controller into the ground. I literally told myself:
“B*bo mo maglaro, Renzo.” 🥴
Maybe it's matchup knowledge. Maybe it's the bad habits. Maybe it's the hiatus. Or maybe I just need to shut up and git gud.
I honestly don't know how to deal with this feeling right now. I still genuinely want to play the game, but at the same time, I get furious at myself when I know I'm playing poorly.
Maybe setting a time limit for Ranked sessions would help. Maybe I need to focus less on the rank and more on actually improving. Or maybe I need to take a break from this game, and focus on other things for now like my family and my health.
For now, I just needed to let the steam out. Sorry guys.
