💿🤔 Will you miss collecting physical PlayStation games or have you already gone fully digital?

Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on July 1, 2026, that the company will continue its transition away from physical game discs in favor of digital distribution, citing changing consumer preferences and the growing shift toward digital gaming.

Beginning in January 2028, new PlayStation game releases will be available digitally through the PlayStation Store and participating retailers. According to Shuman, the decision reflects how players are choosing to purchase and access games today. He also stated that Sony remains "committed to delivering a world-class gaming experience to our fans"" and thanked players for their continued support.
