In an impressive display of talent and harmony, Kathleen C. Aday and Niรฑo Gabriel A. Gayanes of Saint Paul School of Professional Studies captured many hearts during the Vocal Duet competition on January 31. The dyad led the stage during the Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) Regional Games 2026 at Doรฑa Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Educational Foundation (DRTREFI) Gymnasium, finishing with a silver overall.
โWe felt a little pressured and also overwhelmed, knowing we were carrying the name of the school, and having this opportunity is such an honor for us also,โ Aday and Gayanes said when asked how they felt after being named podium finishers.
From the moment they stepped onto the stage, they already showed chemistry that was then further proven by their harmonious singing that left the judges and the audience in absolute awe. They sang Ben&Ben's recent hit, "Saksi Ang Langit," a song that was just as captivating as their delivery.
Despite strong competition having performed before them, SPSPS' dynamic duo was not shaken. Instead, they made sure that their preparations did not go to waste and they harvested the fruit of their labor.
โActually, we just trusted our trainer, Francheska Empino. She helped us improve our voices and taught us how to deliver the song. She guided us to give our best performance, helped us overcome our doubts, and assisted us with the flow of the song,โ Aday explained, reflecting on their preparations for the PRISAA Regionals.
Gayanes further thanked Empino, who is also the schoolโs representative for the Vocal Solo category, stating โFrancheska did great in training us because even on the many times I found it hard to hit the notes, she tried her best to help us improve the flow of our performance.โ
Aday and Gayanes ultimately emerged victorious, winning second place narrowly from Asian Development Foundation College's pair, while the duo from Samar Colleges claimed 3rd place. These results marked another proud achievement for SPSPS, reflecting the school's commitment to nurturing artistic and creative talent.
