🎭 OBRA MAPEHestra Culmination | 60th Foundation Day Celebration 🎨 | Part 2
In celebration of the 60th Foundation Day of Luzong National High School and the Culminating Activity of OBRA MAPEHestra for National Arts Month, the school community proudly showcased the richness of Filipino culture and creativity through a vibrant Cultural Show, Fashion Show, and Sining Paglalahad (Gallery Walk Exhibition) anchored on the theme “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting”, “Harvest of the Arts: Truth and Grit of Ilocano Hearts”.
Before the cultural show began, the performers energized the audience through a lively dance parade and opening salvo, highlighted by the OBRA MAPEHestra Song, inspired by the National Arts Month festival and written by the school’s MAPEH Coordinator and choreographed by the former dancers and present dancers of the school.
The stage then came alive as learners presented Philippine folk dances and OPM performances, celebrating the beauty of our cultural heritage:
✨ Grade 7 – Tiklos and Ba-Ingles
✨ Grade 8 – Binislakan and Polka sa Nayon
✨ Grade 9 – Lapay Bantigue and O Naraniag A Bulan (Ilocano Song)
✨ Grade 10 – Tinikling and Pamulinawen (Ilocano Song)
✨ Grade 11 – La Jota Sevillana and an OPM Medley
✨ Grade 12 – Pasikat na Baso and Binatbatan
Adding elegance and cultural pride to the celebration was the Fashion Show, which highlighted the evolution of Philippine costumes from ethnic attire and traditional Filipina and Barong Tagalog to modern interpretations. Students from Grades 7 to12, together with the faculty and staff of Luzong National High School, proudly showcased the beauty and diversity of Filipino fashion and heritage.
Meanwhile, along the corridors and in front of the office, the Sining Paglalahad Gallery Walk featured an inspiring exhibit of learners’ artworks and performance tasks from MAPEH, Contemporary Philippine Arts (CPAR), and 21st Century classes, including paintings created by the learner belonging to the cultural minority group. This exhibition celebrated the creativity, talent, and achievements of the students, giving them a meaningful platform to share their artistic expressions.
The program also featured special performances from the first-place winners of the contested activities. It was followed by awarding of certificates to the winners and participants alike.
This memorable celebration was graced by the Guest Speaker Hon. Mariecel Ragonjan Garvida and the Education Monitoring Supervisor, Dr. Rajah Adib G. Reyes.
