Today, we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Lent or commonly known as LAETARE Sunday. Laetare is a Latin word for “rejoice.” It comes from the opening words of the Mass Introit, “Laetare Jerusalem,” meaning “Rejoice, O Jerusalem.”

On Laetare Sunday, we wear the color rose to symbolize a “joyful pause” in the middle of the Penitential Lent. It represents a mix of purple (penance) and white (resurrection), signaling that Easter joy is near.

The joy of this day gives us the assurance that even life feels dark or uncertain, God is at work bringing light. In our struggles, questions, and failures, the promise of God remains: darkness will not have the final word.

On this Third Sunday of Lent, we are all invited to reflect on the theme of water, the life-giving and fresh water that comes from Jesus. This water symbolizes His teachings and the cleansing of sin through His death on the cross. Also, we are being reminded to recall the saving power of water that we received during our baptism and to offer the life-giving sacrifice of the Eucharist to the Father.

SINGING THE PASCHAL MYSTERY

Holy Rosary Major Seminary, Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City

Today, the Laudate Dominum Chorale, along with the other choir groups from the Archdiocese of Caceres, attended a Formation Seminar on Holy Week Rubrics and Music at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary. It was a half-day event that discussed the appropriate music and theme for the Lenten Season and the Triduum. Also, it emphasized the deeper meaning of the Holy Week and how the music ministries should embody and convey the message of the Lenten Season to the community.

The group would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Rev. Fr. Xavier Amoroso, Head of the Archdiocese of Caceres Commission on Liturgical Music, for holding such a meaningful event. Thank you for sharing with us your knowledge about music and the Liturgy. We look forward to more formation seminars in the future. Mabalos po, Padre!
