Seventeen (17) aspiring and published poets came together to commemorate the second anniversary of the so-called liberation of Marawi City on October 17, 2019 by reading their original poems on the theme "Return", held at the American Corner Marawi. The 2nd Meranaw Spoken Word is a continuing project of Iranon Gumilang under the program "Meranaws: Then and Now" headed by Prof. Sorhaila L. Yusoph. The event is co-sponsored by the Corner Marawi and the University Library MSU Main.

The first Meranaw Spoken Word was held on May 23, 2019 during the 2nd anniversary of the Marawi Siege. This series inspires Meranaws and MSUans to express their feelings about the Marawi Siege towards healing while documenting their stories creatively.

A third Spoken Word is slated in December and interested poets--aspiring and old poets--may submit their entries by November 15, 2019 through this page. Poems must be original, (Tagalog, Bisaya, Meranaw, and English) and never read nor published elsewhere. Only those able to submit on time will be allowed to participate. The theme for the third Spoken Word must focus on the idea of "Healing."

Wow, this can be the place for our future RanawSpeak Open Mic! Thanks a lot The University Library, MSU-Main!

Inspired by the MSUS President’s mantra of always taking that extra step in the service of the University, we are launching yet another space for the benefit of our students, faculty, staff and researchers at the back of the University Library. This new space aims to inspire students to write poems, short stories, or other academic requirements while overlooking the Golf Course and the Sleeping Lady. For other library patrons who just need a breath of fresh air, the new space is also the perfect spot for them.

Welcome to the Goldies' Buwakan Park and Padian Open Space! This new space hopes to provide the most conducive learning venue for our patrons through the stimulation of their visual and auditory senses with the unbounded view of the Lake Lanao horizon and the sound of our big water fountain.

This space is realized through the collective efforts of the University Library staff particularly the Goldies who exerted more energy in the project, MSU officials and alumni, and non-MSUans from Cotabato City. This newly re-created space used to be dismal and rarely used despite its breathtaking view of the Golf Course and the Lake Lanao. Today, it brings so much hope and promise and endless possibilities of what it can be!

A young Meranaw photography enthusiast Habiba T. Khabab Dangcal volunteered to snap these awesome photos during the Launching.

Norolain Usman and Monipah S. Ambol, from the University Library, also provided some of the photos.

To our patrons, craft your own story here!
