Last June 13-14, 2026, ART SHOP CCC by Lan Esquillo returned to Brgy. Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet to celebrate 9 years.

I’m blessed and deeply grateful for every volunteer in my circle from church, work, co-artists and new friends. Thank you for your time, talent, care and support before and during “Hike, Plant & Paint - ART SHOP CCC Project: Community Mural & Tree Planting” in partnership with Travel Mo To and Barangay Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. The event was a success, as we repainted the wall we first painted 8 years ago.

Thank you to everyone who supported ART SHOP CCC, from the Philippines and people around the world, who bought my Traveller T-shirts, bought my paintings, and gave kind donations of cash and paints. You are part of what we do at Mt. Ulap.

With special participation of students from Ampucao Elementary, with Teacher Chester and the Artventure Team.

I met a 6 year old named Joaquin who painted an underwater scene from his imagination. I let him work on his own, since I’d already observed that he can paint independently. He just needs guidance with the materials. His parents are very supportive and I’m always happy to encounter a family like this. His mom even asked me where she could enroll her son for an art class. I’m looking forward to someday meeting him again, and who knows maybe I’ll see his work in a gallery one day.

About the white space: His mom is telling him to paint the blank space, but he wants to leave it as it is. It reminds me of an FA doctor I met in Chiang Mai who bought my “Paint a Tree” painting on canvas. It had large blank white spaces that had a deep meaning for her, and she explained what she liked about it. I also used to apply the concept of white space in our layout and design subject, because it gives meaning and breathing room to the whole concept.

Raw video clips from my post-Valentine’s in this community.
Lan Din had my heart, and I spent my time here guiding, creating art, and getting to know people of different nationalities - kids, the young at heart, art enthusiasts, parents.
That day, I was blessed to witness the 3rd Chiang Mai Ethnic Market showcasing food, handicraft textiles, agricultural products, and music. You can learn about the culture and community of Thailand and Myanmar there.

I am thankful to Maywa for helping me talk to Thai people and assisting me with the kids. It was a tiring day talking to so many people, but I ended it with a grateful heart. I miss the place and the people in Lan Din who became my family.
