With this feat, the FEU Chorale was chosen as one of the two choirs to represent the Philippines in the 2nd Asia Choral Grand Prix held in Bali, Indonesia last July 2023. In November 2019, the FEU Chorale won first place in the Senior Choir Category of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA). The FEU Chorale welcomed Mr. Roijin G. In commemorating Labor Day, we stand in recognition of all Filipino workers who form the foundation of our society, including those within the FEU community. From security personnel and maintenance staff to office employees and educators, each role reflects the collective effort that keeps our communities running every day. Their resilience, dedication, and commitment continue to drive meaningful change and progress.

As members of the FEU community, we are called not only to acknowledge their contributions but also to remain aware of the realities they face. Labor Day is both a celebration and a call to action, urging us to advocate for just wages, safe working conditions, and the protection of workersโ€™ rights.

Mabuhay!

We dedicate this performance to our supporters and the PCDA, whose unwavering passion and belief in choral music enable us to contribute to a nation in chorus.

Today, the world held its breath. Heinrich Schรผtzโ€™s โ€œSelig sind die Totenโ€ is the sound of that silence. It is not the cry of the Cross, nor the shout of the Resurrection; it is the gentle, steady pulse of sacred rest.

As the voices weave together, let them remind you that even in the tomb, there is a blessing. Even in the waiting, there is a promise.

A day of rest. A day of waiting. A day of faith. The FEU Chorale wishes everyone a meaningful and prayerful Black Saturday.

On this Good Friday, we look to the Cross with humble hearts. Manianoโ€™s โ€œDoxologiaโ€ reminds us of the divine holiness present even in the darkest hour. As the voices cascade and build, they mirror the weight of a world waiting for mercy. We offer this piece not in celebration of a victory already won, but in awe of the love that endured the suffering of Calvary.

We sing of "Blessing, and glory, and wisdom" not because the pain is gone, but because God is present within it.

Have a blessed and quiet day of reflection. ๐ŸŒฟ

Far Eastern University through the FEU Center for the Arts presents the Pundaquit Virtuosi from Zambales in Haydn's 7 Last Words of Jesus Christ with reflections in between in the FEU Chapel surrounded by The Stations of the Cross, a National Cultural Treasure by National Artist Carlos "Botong" Francisco

*********************

The FEU Center for the Arts (FCA) continues its Tutti Concert Series with Tutti Strings, featuring the Pundaquit Virtuosi from Zambales in a special Lenten performance of The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ by Joseph Haydn. Presented in partnership with the FEU Campus Ministry, this free concert will take place on March 31 at 5 PM at the FEU Chapel, offering the Tamaraw community a moving musical reflection in preparation for Holy Week.

Adding a unique dimension to the performance, each of the Seven Last Words will be accompanied by a short reflection delivered by representatives from the FEU Community.

Founded in the quiet coastal village of Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales, the Pundaquit Virtuosi is led by internationally renowned Filipino violinist Coke Bolipata. Through his vision, music education has become accessible to children in the community, transforming lives and nurturing young talents through classical training and performance opportunities. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a respected ensemble known for its heartfelt performances and advocacy for arts education.

Reflecting on the significance of the featured piece, Bolipata shares, โ€œHaydnโ€™s Seven Last Words is a rare piece of music: one that invites stillness. It does not dramatize Christโ€™s suffering so much as meditates on it.โ€

Composed in 1786, Joseph Haydnโ€™s The Seven Last Words of Christ is a deeply contemplative masterpiece originally written for Good Friday services in Cรกdiz, Spain. The work consists of seven sonatas, each reflecting one of Christโ€™s final utterances on the Cross, framed by a solemn introduction and a powerful concluding movement. Revered for its emotional depth and spiritual intensity, the piece invites listeners into quiet meditation through expressive melodies and profound musical storytelling.

The concert is open to all but with limited seats available through pre-registration via the QR code on the poster or the registration link below.
