Visit JCB Gallery’s ongoing exhibition, KASIBULAN Kontra Korapsyon, featuring works by founding and current members of KASIBULAN (Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan), the Philippines’ first women’s artist collective founded in 1987, the exhibition draws on history and contemporary realities to call for justice, accountability, and resistance to corruption while reflecting the continuing struggles of Filipinos.

JCB Gallery presents KASIBULAN Kontra Korapsyon, an exhibition responding to the urgent calls and struggles of the present, as grounded in history. Founded in 1987, KASIBULAN (Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan) is the first women’s artist collective in the Philippines. The group emerged in the aftermath of authoritarian rule, at a moment when the promise of national renewal quickly gave way to persistent inequality and unresolved social struggles.

Across decades, KASIBULAN has consistently engaged these realities—challenging entrenched systems of power and forging a path for Filipino women artists whose practices remain deeply enmeshed in a historically patriarchal Philippine society.

Bringing together works by both founding and current members, the exhibition renews calls for justice and accountability within local contexts, while entering into dialogue with broader global conversations in contemporary art.

The exhibition opens on May 14, 2 PM, at JCB Gallery, Philippine Women’s University, with an artist talk and curatorial walkthrough. The event is free and open to the public.

Samm Occeno’s solo exhibition, Against the Grain, is extended until April 23, 2026!

Against the Grain extends its inquiry into collective authorship, cultural memory, and folk aesthetics, framing them not as ornamental traditions but as critical frameworks for thinking, making, and relating in a shifting contemporary context.

The exhibition is open to the public. Visitors are kindly asked to bring a valid ID, dress comfortably yet appropriately, and complete the PWU Visitor’s Form upon arrival.
