It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our fellow Assemblage Mirage member, Ferdinand Bernales.

Ferdinand was more than an artistโ€”he was a visionary who saw beauty where others saw waste. Through his remarkable steampunk creations, fashioned from discarded and forgotten materials, he transformed scraps into works of imagination, craftsmanship, and wonder. His art reminded us that even the most overlooked objects can be given new life and purpose.

Beyond his talent, Ferdinand was a valued member of our creative community. His passion, ingenuity, and unique perspective enriched Assemblage Mirage and inspired generosity, and spirit that touched those who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through his art and in the memories of the community he helped shape.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved onesfellow artists to look at the world differently.

Today, we honor not only the extraordinary works he leaves behind but also the creativity, during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Ferdinand. Your imagination, artistry, and vision will never be forgotten.

SustainArt showcases creative works that inspire us to see sustainability not as a limit, but as an opportunity for innovation. Assemblage Mirage family is proud of you! Congratulations on your second solo show!

Ferdinand or โ€œFerdieโ€ is a steampunk artist who incorporates metal art to wood, resin, fiberglass and Paete's traditional crafts. Instead of metal, he uses recycled materials like old toys and gadgets to accessorize his works. Ferdie is inspired to make the local products of Paete as the main medium for his creations. He is encouraged to innovate traditional art and modernized it to appeal in the current generation.

Ferdie is born in Manila on January 5,1972 yet he was raised in Paete during his childhood. He is originally a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines but chose to pursue a career related to movies. For ten years, he worked as a props man at the art department of Viva Films. He is appointed as an art director for three projects. On 1998 he learned styro carving and work as a carver at the Ang Buhay at Hugis sa Paete Artshop. Currently he is managing the shop of his late brother (now Ukit at Taka Art Shop) while continuing his passion for steampunk and carving.
