ABOUT THE ARTIST | Jeanne Marquez, violin 💎
Jeanne Marquez is a Filipina violinist who earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in New York City in May 2026. This August, she will begin the next stage of her artistic journey as an incoming Master of Music student in Violin Performance at Juilliard, where she continues to be a scholar of both The Juilliard School and Standard Insurance under its In Pursuit of Excellence program.
Her artistry has been recognized through numerous achievements, including golden medalist of the 2024 Vienna International Music Competition, bronze medalist of the 2023 Singapore International Music Competition, 2023 Ani ng Dangal Awardee, 1st prize winner in the 2022 New York Laureate International Music Competition, winner of the 2022 New York Young Performers Prize Competition, and 1st prize winner of the 2018 National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Junior Strings Category.
She began studying violin at the age of six and in 2014 became one of the youngest founding members of the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO), where she served as concertmaster from 2019 to 2021. She also led the orchestra during its 3rd European concert tour in July 2024, where MSJO won the Gold Prize and Grand Prix at the Bratislava International Music Festival in Slovakia, and First Place with Outstanding Success in the String Orchestra Category at the Summa Cum Laude International Music Festival in Vienna, Austria.
In 2019, she made her major orchestral debut with the Manila Symphony Orchestra in the season concert Sibelius & Beethoven’s 5th, under the baton of Filipino-Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski. Pablo Tariman of the Philippine Daily Inquirer praised her “solid and refined tone” and her “exceptional rapport with the orchestra” (Oct. 21, 2019). In 2024, she performed Brahms’ Violin Concerto in Brahms Violin Concerto & Tchaikovsky, where Antonio C. Hila of InquirePlus wrote, “Marquez was the toast of the evening… She surged through the three-movement work and eloquently displayed a virtuosity of high order, combining both technical prowess and mature disposition” (Sept. 4, 2024). In 2025, she appeared in A Night in Hollywood performing Por Una Cabeza, with Edmund Dennis Ladaw of TheDiarist.PH noting, “Ms. Marquez played it with fiery passion. If the tango dancers made the song look sexy, Ms. Marquez made it sound intensely sexy” (July 4, 2025).
