| UPMC TICC HIGHLIGHTS 📸🇹🇼

Today, we look back at another Mixed Category (B3) entry of the UPMC entitled “Sagastipean”, composed by Javier Busto. Sagastipean is a Basque piece that takes us into a dreamlike scene, where various emotions meet under an apple tree.

Set in an apple orchard, the song follows a man who lies beneath the trees and drifts into a dream. As he reflects on the five stones of a medlar, he is reminded of the five sorrows in his heart. The mood then shifts as he begins to sing and dance, before eventually returning to his dream and losing himself in infinity. Busto’s setting brings these changing emotions to life through three contrasting musical sections.

From a quiet moment under the apple trees to a dream filled with both sorrow and joy, “Sagastipean” invites us to get lost in its story, just as UPMC did on the TICC stage 🇹🇼🎶

| UPMC TICC HIGHLIGHTS 📸🇹🇼

Rekindle the flame of 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐎́ as we look back on the UP Manila Chorale’s first Taiwan tour and the performances that became part of this unforgettable chapter at the 2026 Taipei International Choral Competition.

Our first featured performance is UPMC’s Category B3 (Mixed Choir) entry, “𝐈’𝐦 𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧,” composed by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood and arranged by Peter Knight. Known for its catchy melody and lively rhythm, the song brought a vibrant energy to the stage at Soochow University, where UPMC gave this classic a new voice on the international stage.

At its heart, “I’m a Train” is about movement—always moving forward and never staying in one place. In many ways, it echoes what 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐎́ represents: a continuing journey of growth, discovery, and new milestones, one note at a time.

So, all aboard! 🚂🎶 Let the music take us back to Taiwan.

From rehearsals at the OUR to our choral retreat in Laguna, and from the busy streets of Manila to the iconic landmarks of Taiwan, every stop became part of the flame we will carry and pass on for the years to come.

Though our first Taiwan tour, 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐎́, has ended, the torch of our legacy continues to burn bright with the unforgettable memories and music we made along the way. Here’s a quick look back on our journey that brought the torch of the UP Manila Chorale to the world. ❤️‍🔥🌎

Back home, carrying music that will stay with us long after the final note. 🇵🇭✈️

After days in Taiwan filled with music, competition, and unforgettable moments, the UP Manila Chorale is finally home. Every rehearsal, performance, and shared journey has become something we’ll carry with us for years to come.

As we return to the Philippines, we bring home not only memories but also the honor of representing our university and our country on the international stage. This journey has challenged us, inspired us, and reminded us of the power of music to connect people across cultures.

To everyone who supported us throughout this journey, thank you for believing in us. And to Taiwan, thank you for welcoming us, for giving us a stage where our voices could be heard, and for memories we’ll always hold with gratitude.

This chapter may have come to a close, but our story is far from over. Here’s to new stages, new opportunities, and all that lies ahead. 🇹🇼🎶

Gōng xǐ UPMC! 🥳🇹🇼

𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐎́, the first Taiwan tour of the UP Manila Chorale, began as a journey to share our nation's legacy and the enduring flame of Filipino choral music that transcends borders and generations. From the Philippines, we carried this flame onto the international stage at the 2026 Taipei International Choral Competition.

We are proud to announce that the UP Manila Chorale has achieved the following honors:
🏆 Grand Prix Qualifier
🏅 2nd Placer and Gold Diploma, Category B3 (Mixed Choir)
🏅 3rd Placer and Gold Diploma, Category C1 (Musica Sacra)

To be the voice of UP Manila on the world stage and share our country's talent and rich cultural heritage is a privilege beyond words. This remarkable milestone would not have been possible without the collective support of everyone who believed in us.

Three categories down, one final stage to go. 🎶🇵🇭

The UP Manila Chorale has officially completed its performances in the Mixed, Sacred, and Folk categories at the 2026 Taipei International Choral Competition.

With hearts full of gratitude, we thank God for this incredible opportunity and for allowing us to advance to the Grand Prix. We will be taking the stage once more, with the final round streaming live at 7:30 PM today.

To our family, friends, and supporters, thank you for your unwavering love and prayers. We humbly ask for your continued support as we give our best in this final performance.

One more stage, one more song. See you at the Grand Prix. 🤍🎶
