โWhat if we create a specific catchphrase for AUDC?โ This sudden thought crossed my mind while I was with Princess, eating at a small pastil eatery near our dormitory.
It hasnโt even been a year since we became members of the AU Dance Company, yet fate gave us the opportunity to serve as President and Secretary. To be honest, we didnโt have the privilege to refuse the offer as there was no one else left to take on the responsibility. It was just the two of us. Still, we stepped up because we didnโt want a 20-year legacy to end with us, and we have this deep passion for dancing.
Fast forward, these people became my family. I still remember the first nights of practice where we were so awkward to hold a conversation. We were too shy to share ideas for choreography and didnโt know how to keep conversations going. We were so uncoordinated at first, we had different dance styles, ideas, and different heights, lmao. With all those differences, we are united with one goal: to dance with a heart.
Finding members are easy, but making them stay is hard. Multiple members left this organization because being an active member becomes time demanding, and they find it difficult to balance it with academics and personal affairs. I still find myself reminiscing about the times when we were complete, but at the end of the day, choosing what brings you happiness and fulfillment matters most.
Anyway, there is still so much we want to achieve as a group. We aim to expand our horizons by joining competitions and building a stronger image for our alma mater. This school year may have ended with struggles, disappointments, and unmet goals, but we have more years ahead to achieve them.
On behalf of AU Dance Company, this has been Desiree Ann S. Lloren, President of AUDC.
Signing off, for now.
And before I forgetโPatuloy ang Indak! (to continue the movements made while dancing to a beat).
