Jimmy Page is the ultimate Les Paul icon. During his time with Led Zeppelin, Page played a variety of instruments, particularly in the early days. He was well known for playing a Fender Telecaster before switching to Gibson.

Number One is the name of Page's most renowned Gibson Les Paul. Joe Walsh sold a '59 Les Paul Standard with a sunburst finish, modified electronics, and a shaved down neck.Page later added another Standard to his collection, tweaking the electronics and shaving the neck to give it the moniker Number Two.
But it is Jimmy Page's Les Paul that is eternally linked to him and helped to shape his sound during Led Zeppelin's glory days.

On this day one of the great guitarist of all time was born....
James Patrick Page OBE, an English musician who was the lead guitarist and founding member of the rock group Led Zeppelin, was born on January 9, 1944. Guitar riffs by Page are incredibly prolific. His sound combines forceful, distorted guitar tones with a variety of alternate guitar tunings, melodic solos, and other elements. His folk- and eastern-influenced acoustic work also contributes to its distinctiveness. In order to give the music a droning sound texture, he is also known for occasionally playing his guitar with a cello bow.

""Eruption," Edward Van Halen's solo guitar display, is difficult to conceive a more aptly titled piece of music. The hugely original instrumental hit the rock guitar world when it was published in 1978.
There hasn't been a guitar solo that compares to Van Halen's 'Eruption' in the 42 years since it was released. Eddie Van Halen's skill, sound, and unmistakable emotion are unparalleled. This is a track that every guitarist aspires to be a part of.
Eruption' opens with an intense drum crescendo and a ringing chord strum, fooling the listener into thinking they're about to hear the band's signature multi-instrumental, fast-paced, furious rock song. Fast-paced and energetic are two characteristics that come to mind when thinking of 'Eruption,' but the song's dense texture is created by only one man and his guitar β€” Eddie Van and the Frankenstrat
