A VOICE IN FULL BLOOM
Soprano Isabela Madero prepares for
her first professional solo concert——
Joined by guest artists soprano Hannah
Marie Osorio, and Anchor Quartet, with
Gabriel Allan Paguirigan as collaborating artist.

Isabela has been singing since before she could
explain why. At four, she was already performing
for her grandparents' friends. By seven or eight,
she was in formal voice training. Now, at the start
of her professional career, she is preparing to take
the stage for Portraits of Love, her first solo concert
featuring opera arias and art songs in Italian,
German, and French.
It was her mother who first noticed the gift and
found a teacher to develop it. That teacher,
Ms. Perpy Heath, guided Isabela for sixteen years,
beginning with Disney and Broadway songs before
moving into classical repertoire.
Under Ms. Heath, Isabela worked through the
levels of the Associate Board of the Royal Schools
of Music (ABRSM, U.K.), earning a Distinction for
the ARSM Diploma in Music Performance.
"She instilled in me the importance of solid vocal
technique and deepened my love and appreciation
for classical music and opera," Isabela says.
During the pandemic, Isabela competed on virtual
international stages with notable results: a Gold
Award at the VAYA International Music Festival for
Operatic Solo (2021), Second Place at the New York
Young Performers' Prize for Voice (2021), First Place
and Judges' Best Performance Award at the Vienna
Virtuoso Festival (2022), a Gold Award in the
Professional Category at the North American
Virtuoso International Music Competition (2023),
and Second Place at the Golden Classical Music
Awards (2024).
She was also invited to participate in a masterclass
with world-renowned soprano Lisette Oropesa, one
of the singers she counts among her inspirations.
In 2023, the Cultural Center of the Philippines
tapped her to perform at pre-show events for
two Met: Live in HD screenings. That same year,
she joined the Vienna Opera Academy Summer
Program, performing in Cosi fan tutte and Don
Giovanni at venues including the Musikverein
and the Mozarthaus in Vienna.
Isabela's artistic influences span generations.
She draws inspiration from legends like Luciano
Pavarotti and Maria Callas, and follows the work
of contemporary sopranos Asmik Grigorian, Ailyn
Perez, Lisette Oropesa, and Nadine Sierra. Closer
to home, she points to her current teacher, Filipino
tenor Arthur Espiritu, who has been preparing her
for this concert since February 2026.
"Through his example, he has shown many young
Filipino artists that it is possible to succeed on the
international stage," she says. "I am incredibly
grateful for the opportunities he has given us to
learn more about the opera world."
The program was designed with two goals in mind:
to offer audiences music they will recognize and
love, while also pushing Isabela into more demanding dramatic territory. Working with Arthur Espiritu, she
selected works by Puccini, Verdi, Schubert, Rossini,
Hahn, and others, building a program around the
many forms love can take.
"We wanted to create a program that would keep
audiences engaged from beginning to end and offer
them a meaningful musical journey," she says.
"I hope audiences leave feeling inspired, moved,
and emotionally connected to the music."
Isabela approaches her future with intention but
without rigid plans. She wants to keep building her
repertoire, pursue competitions and auditions, and
let opportunities guide her path. Among the roles
she hopes to sing someday are Mimi in La Boheme,
Micaela in Carmen, and the title role in Rusalka.
"Opera has been a lifelong passion, and I hope it
will always remain a meaningful part of my life," she
shares. "For now, my goal is simply to keep learning,
growing, and embracing every opportunity to share
music with others."
For a soprano who has spent years preparing in
competition halls, master classes, and opera stages
across Europe and the Philippines, Portraits of Love
is not just a debut. It is the next step in a career that
has been building steadily, and purposefully, for a
long time.
