.
Calm arrives in expansion,
dissolving into horizon and cloud.

Ridges rise and fade into a sea of mist.

Distance opens gently,
and light spreads across the horizon
with unhurried clarity

The world feels wide,
expansive, and easy to breathe.

Still. Strong. Silent.

A moment from Batanes, captured in oil,
painted in quiet awe of the strength and meditative stillness of its enduring landscape.

While the winds howled, relief comes as the place remembers the sun.

And does so with grace.

Celebrating the strength, voice, and presence of women this Women’s Month. 🌸

Honored and grateful to share space with 50 fellow women artists in Only Women Bleed at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Gallery. Each work carries a story—different experiences translated into color, texture, and form.

Grateful for the presence of Bernan Joseph Corpuz, Deputy Executive Director of the NCCA; Arvin Vilallon, Acting Deputy Director General of the National Museum of the Philippines; and Cesar Gilbert Adriano, Director of the National Library of the Philippines. Also thankful for the inspiring words from Prof. Mary Ann Venturina-Bulanadi, PhD of the University of Santo Tomas, and artist Yolanda de Castro Cabuco.

Endless thanks to Ding Royales for curating this exhibition and for the opportunity to be part of it. I never imagined I’d be exhibiting at the NCCA this early in my art career, and it truly means so much.

On view at the NCCA Gallery until March 31.

✨A woman alters her size to pass through unfamiliar spaces and expectations. These shifts become a quiet metaphor for the ways identity is bent and reshaped to belong, to be accepted, to make others comfortable.

The teacup, an object of ritual, restraint, and civility, holds the scene like a fragile boundary amplifying the tension between composure and becoming. The caterpillar, a figure of transformation and wisdom, offers no instruction, only a question—one that lingers rather than directs. Through dreamlike scale and suspended motion, this piece dwells on the search for self beneath adaptation, asking how one might grow wothout losing what is true.

Tangled Quiet
by Ada Noreen Alcoba, 2025
Original Oil Painting on canvas
12” x 16”

First of the Moss and Memory Collection, the reference for this came from a hiking trip at Mt. Purgatory years ago. It really feels like you’re in a different world. The white coldness of the fog, and lush foliage in this scene evokes a sense of tranquility and ethereal peace.

Originally named Mt. Mangisi, the mountain was given an ominous name due to the feeling of isolation it brings to the people who enter its trails. The coldness and darkness brought by the thick vegetation is likened to the description of purgatory.
