The NBA 2K series has been nothing but an annual ‘copy & paste’ iteration of the previous entry with roster updates and a menial effort to change its aesthetic to make it look different than last year’s. This has been the most, I think, that 2k has actually changed in its gameplay since the birth of microtransactions. NBA 2K26, by far, has to most responsive player movement to controls. Gameplay is a bit faster. Shot meters are just ‘clutter’ now on the HUD, since its either a green or a miss. Basically, the shot meters is just another thing you draw your eye to that bakes you no cake. Graphics and arena lighting are improved, and jersey physics are ‘sort of’ back unlike the past few 2Ks that made jerseys feel stiff as a brick, but still not as ‘flowy’ as one would like. Overall, I think NBA 2K26 has been the best of all entries in this 9th console generation.
