PH AVIATION SECTOR FLYING HIGH WITH 248 COMPLETED PROJECTS

At the onset of the Duterte Administration in 2016, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has set its sights on achieving this vision: ADVANCE AIR CONNECTIVITY AND MOBILITY IN THE COUNTRY, AND WITH THE WORLD.

Fully committed to deliver this until the last day of office, the DOTr, under the visionary and iron-willed leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, along with its attached agencies, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), are relentless in building new gateways and modernizing the existing ones.

NOW, the DOTr has completed 248 airport projects, including the new and state-of-the-art terminal of the Clark International Airport (CRK), Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), Bicol International Airport (BIA), as well as the airport projects in Calbayog, Kalibo, Tuguegarao, Catarman, San Vicente in Palawan, among others. The DOTr's aviation sector is currently finishing 68 more airport projects.

An additional nine (9) airports have been expeditiously night-rated, equipping the country with a total of 23 night-rated airports, while seven (7) airports are set to be night-rated this year and beyond. On the other hand, the Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) is now fully operational, bringing the erstwhile total of three (3) radars to 13 and ensuring 100% coverage of the country’s airspace for aviation safety.

Even with over a month left before the President's term comes to a close, rest assured that our zeal to serve, work, and build remains ablaze for the overall welfare and long-term benefit of the Filipino people.
