The Artists:
DEINIEL SANCHEZ began his music journey with the trumpet at the tender age of eight. However, things took a turn at 12 when his band in Bulacan needed to fill the horn section. This seemingly ordinary switch ignited a passion for the French horn that propelled Deiniel into mastering his craft.
Deiniel graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at the University of Santo Tomas Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy in 2019. Moreover, he entered the UST Conservatory of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music in Performance, Major in French Horn, under the tutelage of Mrs. Atsuko Tashiro-Tagala and Mr. Jay-ar Mesa, graduating as Summa Cum Laude and class valedictorian.
Deiniel is an active musician performing with different ensembles in the country. He served as Principal Horn of the UST Symphony Orchestra and UST Wind Orchestra. His membership extends to groups like Ang Misyon Inc. Orchestra of the Filipino Youth, the 2019 FilKor Youth Orchestra, and the Pulong Buhangin Youth Band. Additionally, he is a regular program musician, gracing the stages of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. His dedication to the craft is further evident in his membership with the Philippine Horn Players' Society. In addition, he served as Deputy Musician for the 2024 Manila production of the world-renowned musical Miss Saigon. He was part of the delegation at the NAMCYA Winners' Concert at the Gulangyu Concert Hall in Xiamen, China. Furthermore, showcasing his artistry, Deiniel presented an online solo recital titled "Beyond the Common" with the Manila Pianos Artist Series.
In music competitions, Deiniel proved capable of demonstrating his music. He secured 1st Prize in the Brass Open Category at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) 2022 "Maglayog (Lumipad)." A Gold Award followed this achievement in the First Round of the 2nd Sugree Charoensook International Music Competitions. He has also garnered top honors in competitions like the Asian Music Games 2021 (1st Prize), Bacoor International Music Championships 2021 (2nd Prize), and the 1st Leopoldo Lopez Horn Competition (6th Place).
Deiniel's academic and artistic excellence haven't gone unnoticed. The University of Santo Tomas bestowed upon him prestigious awards, including the Rector's Award for Academic Excellence, St. Thomas Aquinas Award for Exceptionally Outstanding Performance, Benavides Outstanding Achievement Award, and Pope John Paul II Outstanding Achievement Award.
