An account from one (in a million) who doesn't know Aegis at all

"I must be honest. I never heard of the band before and I'm not familiar with their music. In fact, I asked the guy who sold the souvenir program who the band was. He looked at me dumbfounded with wide eyes and said .. 1990s all-female rock band?... Halik (Kiss)? Luha (Tears)? Bakit, Ako Ngayo'y Hate Mo (Why, Do You Now Hate Me?).. "Ummmm... sorry" was all I can say.

"I held out so much. I wanted to burst out and sing the songs two octaves higher on my seat but on the fear of getting arrested, I remained silent. I didn’t want to be thrown out of the theater. I still needed to hum with closed mouth my favorite Aegis songs.

What I didn’t hold out on is laughing so much. There were a few parts I didn’t but most parts, I laughed so hard my sides hurt. I laughed so hard I clapped. I laughed so hard I wanted to sing. I surely did want to sing."

"there's also a lot of good in the musical's being everything Filipino. Our creativity and resourcefulness. Our love for social media and music. Close family ties. Pride. Unity in times of desperate need, particularly when our community or country is being taken advantage of by someone from the outside. Our great sense of humor. ..Aside from the title pun, everything else about Rak of Aegis is original. I hope we could create more plays of this sort in the future."
