October is National Indigenous Peoples Month, a time to celebrate the vibrant cultures and enduring traditions of our Indigenous communities, as declared in Proclamation No. 1906.

This year’s theme, β€œWeaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development,” reminds us that our future is brighter when we honor the roots of our identity.

Capiz State University joins the nation in recognizing the strength, creativity, and wisdom of our IP brothers and sisters. We encourage the CAPSU community and the public to take part in activities that promote respect, inclusivity, and cultural pride.

Let us continue to learn from our Indigenous Peoples and keep their heritage alive for generations to come.

Hugyaw Cultural Group Ignites the Stage with Dance and Culture! 🎢✨

Earlier today, the HUGYAW Cultural Group captivated the crowd with a vibrant mini concert during the Oath Taking Ceremony at the CAPSU Burias Campus Gymnasium.

The group showcased a spectacular fusion of dances, beginning with Indigenous Dances such as Sulognon and Uyaoy, followed by graceful Folk Dances including Binasuan and Habanera BotoleΓ±a. The performance transitioned seamlessly into Contemporary Dance, burst with energy through Street Dance, and culminated in the elegance and precision of Dance Sports.

Each performance reflected a rich tapestry of our cultural heritage while embracing modern creativity. The audience was treated to a celebration of tradition, artistry, and rhythm that highlighted the diversity and talent of the HUGYAW Cultural Group.

Their dynamic showcase not only entertained but also reminded everyone of the importance of preserving and promoting our cultural roots while exploring new expressions of art and movement.
