With immense pride and overflowing gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable achievement of the Capiz State University (CapSU) – Burias Campus for emerging as the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 in the Kalan-ona nga Capisnon: Cultural Heritage Gastronomic Performances during the Capiztahan Festival 2026!

This historic victory reflects the excellence, creativity, passion, and unity of the campus administration, trainers, and student participants who brought honor not only to CapSU Burias Campus, but to the entire Municipality of Mambusao. Truly, this achievement is a shining testament to our town's battle cry: “𝗪𝗼𝘄! 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗼!”

As we continue to celebrate this milestone, the Sangguniang Bayan of Mambusao proudly recognizes our champions through an official awarding ceremony during its 51st Regular Session on May 20, 2026, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipal Building, Mambusao, Capiz.

Congratulations once again to our Grand Champions for raising the banner of culture, excellence, and pride. May the light of this victory continue to inspire and bring honor to our community — 𝗽𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗴!

Through the passing of time, the Hugyaw Cultural Group continues to shine as a beacon of culture and artistry. Different presidents, evolving members, and diverse genres may have shaped its journey, yet its purpose has remained unchanged—to preserve culture and the arts while nurturing the passion and talent of the younger generation.

For more than two decades, Hugyaw has not only carried traditions forward but has also become a home where creativity flourishes, identities are celebrated, and the spirit of culture lives on through every performance, every voice, and every generation.

Founded by Dr. Rodyard B. Madiclum in 2003, Hugyaw Cultural Group was built on a vision of safeguarding and promoting culture and the arts within the academic community. From its humble beginnings, it has grown into a dynamic and influential organization that continuously inspires excellence in artistic expression.

Guided by its strong foundation, Hugyaw remains committed to cultivating discipline, creativity, and cultural pride among its members—ensuring that the legacy it carries will continue to thrive for generations to come.

October is Indigenous Peoples Month!

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Month, the NCCA, through its Subcommission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts (SCCTA), proudly presents Dayaw 2025: Habi ng Kultura, Yaman ng Kinabukasan, a national gathering that honors the rich heritage, knowledge, and creativity of our Indigenous Cultural Communities.

With over 300 delegates from all over the country, this year’s celebration brings Indigenous Peoples together to share their stories, traditions, and lifeways; strengthening our national fabric through diversity.

Let us celebrate culture as a living thread that weaves our future.

October is National Indigenous Peoples Month, a time to celebrate the vibrant cultures and enduring traditions of our Indigenous communities, as declared in Proclamation No. 1906.

This year’s theme, “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development,” reminds us that our future is brighter when we honor the roots of our identity.

Capiz State University joins the nation in recognizing the strength, creativity, and wisdom of our IP brothers and sisters. We encourage the CAPSU community and the public to take part in activities that promote respect, inclusivity, and cultural pride.

Let us continue to learn from our Indigenous Peoples and keep their heritage alive for generations to come.

The Hugyaw Cultural Group graced the Closing Ceremony of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW 2025) held at Robinson’s Place, Roxas City, with their remarkable performance of the Chicken Inasal Contemporary Dance. Their presentation highlighted the fusion of cultural heritage and creative expression, serving as a symbolic bridge between science, technology, and the rich traditions of Capiz.

The group was accompanied by their adviser, Prof. Niño L. Horario, together with Dr. Rodyard B. Madiclum, Campus Administrator, and Prof. Angeline L. Vestidas, University Socio-Cultural Director, who have continuously supported the promotion of arts and culture within the academic community.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Efren L. Linan, University President, for his trust and confidence in the Hugyaw Cultural Group, whose talents continue to bring pride and recognition to the University.
