PARTICIPATING CHOIR FEATURE
Bukidnon State University Chorale
We are honored to welcome back the Bukidnon State University Chorale for their second appearance at our festival. Their return reflects not only their continued commitment to choral excellence, but also their dedication to celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Bukidnon through music.
The Bukidnon State University Chorale is the premier cultural ensemble of Bukidnon State University, specializing in Bukidnon Indigenous Music. It is a mixed choir composed of university students dedicated to promoting the rich musical heritage of the province.
The BukSU Chorale represented the Philippines at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2011 held in Prague, Czech Republic, from June 16 to 26, 2011. In 2012, the group also performed during the Independence Day Celebration of the Consulate General of the Philippines in Manado, Indonesia.
The Chorale is the resident performing group of the Cultural Night “Pinilyapan hu Bukidnon” during the annual Kaamulan Festival of the Province of Bukidnon. Over the years, it has represented the university in numerous national and international events and competitions, including the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools Games (Champion), the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges National Culture and the Arts Festival, the Dagyaw Choral Festival, and the ASEAN Stars Music Competition (Champion), among others.
THE CHOIRMASTER
The Choirmaster, Ivan Christer ‘Ivana’ C. Arboladura, is an alumna of the Bukidnon State University Chorale. She joined the group in 2007 under the mentorship of Ms. Mercibelle Barroso-Abejuela.
She has participated in numerous workshops and seminars organized by the Philippine Choral Directors Association and the Kodály Society of the Philippines. A largely self-taught musician, she continues to expand her craft through various trainings with internationally acclaimed artists, including Krystl Buesa of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Stefanie Quintin Avila of the UP College of Music, and Dr. Árpád Tóth of the Kodály Society.
Aside from conducting, she is also a music arranger, known for her choral arrangement of Ipanumpa Ko, a hit song by Oh! Caraga.
We look forward to witnessing their artistry once again as they grace our stage with the timeless beauty of Bukidnon’s musical heritage.
Welcome back, BukSU Chorale.
May your voices continue to uplift, inspire, and honor the culture we proudly call our own.
Catch them at the Abbey of the Transfiguration - Benedictine Monks on December 7, 2025, 7:00 PM.
