"La garde meurt mais ne se rend pas" (The Guard dies but does not surrender) - a quote attributed to Pierre Cambronne, Viscount of Cambronne

The Imperial Guard of the Grand Army (La Garde Impériale de la Grande Armée) was a small group of elite French soldiers under the direct command of Emperor Napoleon I during the Napoleonic Wars.
The Imperial Guard was divided into several regiments of infantry, cavalry, and artillery units.

The group saw action in the majority of Napoleon's battles, including the failed invasion of Russia in 1812, and the famous battle of Waterloo in 1815.

“Genius has no country. It blossoms everywhere. Genius is like the light, the air. It is the heritage of all."

On this day 161 years ago, Dr. Jose P. Rizal was born in Calamba, Laguna. Rizal was a Filipino polymath who is one of the ilustrados and a Propagandist who sought reforms from Spanish Cortes for the Filipinos.

Rizal also wrote the novels Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not), and El Filibusterismo (The Reign of Greed), which is one of the sparks of the Philippine revolution.

He was tried and executed on December 30, 1896, for sedition and rebellion as he was considered to be the inspiration of the revolutionaries who took up arms to gain independence from the Spanish imperialists.

Today, Rizal was revered as one of the national heroes of the Philippines. His life and works were studied in college as a subject by the virtue of Republic Act 1425 or the Rizal law, enacted on 1956.

"You ask all my teammates, the one thing about Michael Jordan was he never asked me to do something that he didn’t fu***ng do.”

Michael Jordan (born 1963) was a former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is arguably the league's Greatest of All Time (GOAT).

Before entering the league, he played for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels at the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from 1981 to 1984, where he averaged 17.7 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 54.0% shooting. The team won the championship thanks to Jordan's winning buzzer-beater jump shot.

After his college stint, he was drafted 3rd overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He gave the team six (6) championships for the team, all in the 1990s. He briefly played for the Washington Wizards after his 2nd retirement until 2003.

Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan, Pilipinas

"Kayong makakikita, salubungin ninyo siya . . .
