To our musicians—Corrina Lapeña Llorin, March Checa, Min Mendoza, Jopi Diestro, Jasper Domingo, and Jim Charles Morales—your passion and artistry brought life, depth, and beauty to every piece. It was truly an honor to perform alongside you, and we look forward to future collaborations.

Above all, we give thanks for the opportunity to share this offering of faith, music, and community. May the message of CHRISTUS continue to resonate in our hearts beyond the performance.

As we approach the sacred days of Holy Week, we invite you to a quiet afternoon of prayer, reflection, and music. Centro Entablado 2026, in cooperation with the Intramuros Administration, presents:

CHRISTUS: A Journey from the Upper Room to the Cross

Through sacred choral music, CANTUS, a community choir in Metro Manila dedicated to promoting and performing sacred and liturgical music, offers a musical meditation on the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In this time of reflection, may the music help us remember the love, sacrifice, and hope found in Christ’s journey to the Cross.

PART 2 | LENT 101: SOUND AND PRACTICE
by Alejandro D. Consolacion II

How do we translate Lenten austerity into actual organ stops? Maestro Alejandro provides a masterclass on registration, demonstrating the use of flutes, principals, and strings while explaining why mixtures and trumpets should be avoided. This part includes practical applications for beloved hymns like God of Mercy and Compassion and Buksan ang Aming Puso, as well as strategies for accompanying Responsorial Psalms.

Happening Now | Ash Wednesday

Tonight, we serve at Santuario de San Antonio Parish to mark the beginning of Lent. The ashes we receive are more than just a symbol of our mortality, they are a call to return to the heart of our faith.

In the spirit of Matthew 6, we are reminded that true devotion happens in the quiet and secret places of the soul. Our prayer, fasting, and service are not for the eyes of the world, but for the Father who sees our intent. As we enter this season of sacrifice, we seek not the applause of others, but a sincere transformation of the heart.

This service is a collaborative effort by Cantus and The Feast Binondo Music Ministry.

Alejandro Consolacion II, organist

PART 1 | LENT 101: THE LITURGY OF SILENCE
by Alejandro D. Consolacion II

In this first installment, our Music Director Alejandro D. Consolacion II discusses the solemn role of the pipe organ during Lent. He breaks down the official guidelines from the General Instructions of the Roman Missal (GIRM) and Vatican II, emphasizing that music during this season must serve as a tool for fasting and abstinence. Learn which parts of the liturgy allow for accompaniment and why solo instrumental music is set aside until the glory of Easter.
