Learn how artists develop their ideas before putting them on canvas—from quick thumbnails and tonal studies to creating strong compositions. Over 6 sessions, explore light, shadow, focal points, composition, still life, landscapes, and waterscapes through guided exercises and hands-on practice. ✏️🖼️

We’ll be open as usual, with all classes, activities, and rentals, proceeding as scheduled.

August 31 — CLOSED
Sunshine Place will be closed in observance of National Heroes Day.
Please note that rentals at the 4F Dance Studio and 5F Roof Deck will still proceed as scheduled.

Regular operations will resume the next day.

Looking for a creative and relaxing way to spend your day? Join us for a special Kutani Porcelain Painting Workshop with Ms. Tomoko Sumi!
No painting experience needed! Each porcelain plate comes with a pre-transferred design, so you can simply enjoy choosing your colors and bringing the design to life—just like coloring. 💛

Choose your favorite motif:
🦐 Shrimp Motif
🍃 Leaf Motif

Each project can be completed in approximately 3 hours in one session. Want to add more depth and richer colors? You may continue layering colors in a future session after your piece has been fired.

• Workshop fee is exclusive of materials.
• Enrollment deadline: August 21, 2026 (Friday) — this gives our instructor enough time to carefully prepare each porcelain plate and the necessary materials from Japan.
• Participants who wish to paint both the Shrimp and Leaf designs must register for both projects at the time of enrollment.
