Hi !
I'm working on a new collection of pieces and I hope you can be part of it.

Love is a labyrinth! Once you fall in, it's hard to fall out. Within the maze of love, we often wind up doing extraordinary great and stupid things. We've all been there.

Confess your stories anonymously. Brag about how awesome a lover you are or free yourself from a memory that haunts you.
Send your anonymous stories through this form and I'll make something out of it.

This was my biggest year in art šŸ’„

The Artist Is Alive was shown at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Gallery in Intramuros for almost a full month last June. I went there as often as possible, meeting visitors, giving personal tours, giving a talk, & letting it all sink in.

I accomplished a lot of my goals, even a spread on Art+ and a live interview on CNN, but my fave accomplishment? Witnessing people take in my art with laughter and tears. I had messages about how my art impacted them, and 52 people shared their vulnerabilities for the installation piece ā€œConfess: An Evolutionā€

Most of the art-making process is a solitary exercise in extending myself. There are so many ā€œmy'sā€ and ā€œI’sā€ in the process that it almost seems selfish. But when it all comes together, when the brushstrokes show the bigger picture, and it’s put into a space, curated, and shared, it all becomes a ā€œwe.ā€ Extending myself does not mean enlarging my ego, but rather making more space for people to come in. My art enables me, by proxy, to love a bunch of strangers in an atypically vulnerable way usually reserved for the most intimate of relationships.

The latter half of 2023 was filled with heartbreak, but I persevered thanks to a new happy place. When I close my eyes, I am there, on those wooden benches, connected. A dream that lived for so long in my mind for a short while physically materialized as a healing space for wounded folks like me. Although it’s been months since, the memories are alive and well, inspiring me to faithfully continue my art journey.

Published again by Art + for their June roundup! šŸ’œā™„ļø thank you so much!
By the way, will also be in the coming July Edition of Art + 😘

Everyday objects placed in an exhibition space for an artistic intention become works of art. Art+ Magazine rounds up prominent exhibitions for the month of June, 2023.

Loved The Artist Is Alive? Well you can have a piece of it in your space forever šŸ’• The exhibit has officially closed but it doesn’t have to end.
Yes! The artworks are for sale and if you want a smaller and more affordable format, limited edition prints are also available (pre-order only until July 19 at bit.ly/TAIAlimitedprints).

It would mean the world for you to support my art so I can continue making more of them. I wish I can make them for free but alas—your girl’s gotta eat. Also, if you think about it, they’re not expensive given your basically buying pieces of my soul.

Message me for details!

Love you lots,
Jasper

The Artist Is Alive is packing up real soon so better catch it on or before June 30! Tours by the artist available June 28-29, afternoons.

My art makes it near impossible for photographs to really capture the shared moment it creates. You really have to be there to see, hear, touch, taste, and smell the experience. Plus, the paintings themselves employ texture and shifting shimmer—things only apparent in real life.

The experience is made even richer when you engage with me through the free tours I give when I’m there. I do the tours as part of my exhibit’s core beliefs: my art is richest now, while I am alive, while you and I can connect through it, enrich it, engage with it. It’s when you hear my story, and I hear yours, when we fellowship and feel less alone in this gigantic universe—isn’t that the most priceless thing?

Madness is often romanticized in art: the suicidal Gogh’s art only gained acclaimed value after his death. But let that be what it is, not a triumph but a tragedy. We have these beautiful works, but we lost a genius who perhaps could have done even more if he’d had more than his brother Theo Gogh supporting him. The world needs more Theos.

So how about it? Be my Theo?

If you’re keen for a tour by me, find me at the gallery June 28-29, in the afternoons. It would be my joy to share with you the BTS of each artwork and help you deep dive into each piece’s meaning.

F*ck! It’s your last chance to see my exhibit in person!! Last chance to hold cuss-a-gun with your own two hands, last chance to witness this living, breathing exhibit, last chance to see the textures that photos simply can’t capture, last chance to get a personal art tour with me!

The Artist Is Alive is in its last week at the NCCA Gallery!

The experience thus far, welcoming guests, telling them the stories, taking them on an emotional roller coaster, has been nothing short of amazing. The right people keep finding the exhibit serendipitously! We were careful not to give promises on its ability to heal—but time and again I’ve gotten so much feedback on how th exhibit has touched their hearts, helped them cry, help them feel ā€œ10x betterā€, or changed the ā€œtrajectory of one’s life.ā€ Time and again, people came up to me with stories of their own struggles, opened up to me, a stranger, about their secrets, and how, through my art, they found solace as they felt seen.

A roaring tearful success and it hasn’t even ended yet. It’s hitting where it matters. F**k! I’m so happy!

I’ve learned so much from this and whatever comes next will be even better. But more importantly, my heart is full. So full. I feel afformed. Our vulnerabilities truly expose the most beautiful parts of humanity and help bring us together. Love begets love.

I need and want to make more art! Because this matters. What we made here together—this fellowship, this togetherness, this shared psyche—this matters. Our souls matter.

So pleaaaassee, for your sake haha, go see my exhibit! Let it lift a weight off your shoulders. Let it take you on a journey. Like a flower, it’s beautiful one day, dead the next—so catch it while it’s alive!

I am alive. And my art will never be as rich as it is now while you and I can meet in a space together and connect through it.

-

For personal tours: let me know! I’ll be coming to the exhibit again on Wednesday. But if you have plans this friday—the VERY LAST CHANCE, come on barbie, let’s go party.

Sharing with you a part of my speech from last June 7, when The Artist Is Alive opened at the NCCA gallery, showcasing what I’ve incubated for the last three years.

Minutes after this speech, there were tears of joy, and lots of laughter as I welcomed and toured visitors around the space. In truth, it wasn’t just three years. The idea first struck 4 years ago. My passion for art began decades ago.

If you haven’t already, encouraging you to come to the unique emotional experience I’ve crafted for you.

Big thank you to my sis who recorded this šŸ’•

My biggest goals for my art are two things:

1. Accessibility - that those who will love It, find healing from it, can find it, enjoy it, or can take home a piece of it. This is why I’ve been doing my best to grow my audience.

2. Sustainability - that I can somehow earn from my art so I can make more of my art and deliver my messages through more forms/mediums/materials.

These two things don’t always go together but I think these prints will help me accomplish both goals. So if you love my art and hope I can make more of it, supporting these prints will come a long way.

*framing service only available to Metro Manila locations using Grab express for shipping. Frame available is a 1 inch white wooden frame, 1 inch Glass on Glass

Jasper Hannah
