✨ CELEBRATING HISTORY, HERITAGE, AND IDENTITY ✨
The Local Government Unit of Madalag, through the Office of the Municipal Mayor – Tourism Unit, proudly joins the “Maragtas it Akean: National History Month Celebration Exhibit” organized by the Aklan Tourism Officers Association, Inc. (AkTOA) this August.
Aligned with Proclamation No. 339 (s. 2012), this exhibit honors Aklan’s rich history, vibrant culture, enduring traditions, and invaluable heritage. It features historical artifacts, cultural displays, photographs, local crafts, and stories that reflect the unique identity and legacy of the Aklanon people — including the proud history and roots of our very own Madalag.
This initiative aims to deepen public appreciation of our shared history, promote the preservation of our cultural treasures, and strengthen local tourism through heritage education. Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding our province’s historical and cultural legacy, inspiring present and future generations to cherish and protect the stories that shaped us.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Orlando I. Inosanto Jr. and the Municipal Tourism, Culture and Arts Council for their unwavering leadership and support; Hon. Vern T. Gubatina for his invaluable assistance; Ma’am Mary Portia Palabrica for her meaningful ideas and suggestions; the Tourism Unit staff for their dedication in facilitating this activity; Ma’am Celsa Nagtalon Gonzales, who generously lent the painting and ensured its safekeeping; Mr. Cawaling, the talented artist who created this artwork; Former Mayor Hon. Marietta Martelino Diapo Gonzales, the owner of the painting; and Former Mayor Atty. Emilio C. Nabor, whose work History of Madalag preserves the stories we hold dear.
📢 The exhibit runs until August 31, 2026 at Haboean Weaving Studio and Cafe. Come and discover the rich heritage of Aklan and Madalag!
Let us celebrate where we came from, as we build a brighter future together. 💚
