At Sun Moon Pavilion, that distinction is led by Executive Chef Max Wang - an accomplished culinary master with more than 31 years of experience, five-star hotel training and recognition from some of the most respected culinary institutions and competitions in the world.
Chef Max spent a significant part of his career at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, where he served as Executive Sous Chef. It was in this demanding five-star environment that he refined the discipline, consistency and precision that have become the hallmarks of his cooking.
His talent has taken him far beyond the professional kitchen.
Chef Max earned gold medals at the U.S. Rice Culinary Competition and the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic, or HOFEX. He was also named among the global top 10 chefs in the Master Chef Championship organized by the World Association of Chinese Cuisine.
Chef Max also holds Taiwan’s highest-level professional culinary qualification and has been entrusted to serve as a National Culinary Examiner under Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor - a role for professionals recognized not only for their skill, but also for their ability to uphold the highest standards of culinary excellence.
He has judged domestic and international competitions, mentored future culinary professionals at Kun Shan University and served as a technical adviser to culinary institutions.
In other words, Chef Max is not only a master of his craft. He is also one of the experts trusted to evaluate, teach and help set the standards for others in the culinary industry.
