The reveal usually changes how fans see them. Sometimes the character looks completely different from what people expected, sometimes the face makes them more intimidating, and sometimes it adds a softer side to someone who was introduced as cold, distant, or untouchable.

Characters like 2B and A2 from NieR:Automata are a perfect example of how “covered eyes” became part of the visual identity. The visor/blindfold style gives 2B that calm, emotionless YoRHa presence, while A2’s uncovered look makes her feel more raw, independent, and battle-worn.

That’s why masked characters stay so memorable. The mask builds the mystery, but the unmasking is what makes fans start comparing, debating, and saying:
