May kagyat na imposisyon ang salitang “kabisera”. Lagi’t lagi ay may pinapaigting itong dibisyon—siyudad at lalawigan; sentro at hibaybay; Maynila at ibang lungsod; Maynila at probinsya. Maringal ang mga imahe na kaakibat nito, at sinususulan nito ang halina ng lungsod kung saan nakakubli ang dahas ng araw-araw na pananatili.

Mula rito ang impetus ng Kabisera na maglatag ng iba’t ibang pagtingin sa siyudad batay sa apinidad sa lungsod ng mga kabilang sa exhibition. Ang iba ay lumaki rito at ito lamang ang mundo; ang iba ay dayo at ito ang naging mundo; ang iba, dumaraan lamang. Alin ang lungsod?

Umiinog ang mga gawa mula sa pagmumuni-muni, paggiit ng espasyo at pagkakakilanlan hanggang sa pagpuna ng sistemang naglalagay sa pedestal sa kung ano ang siyudad. Bakit tayo naririto? Maaaring may laya tayong piliin ang siyudad. Maaaring wala tayong kakayahang makaalis.

Sa huli, ang kapahintulutang magmuni-muni at lumikha ay malayo sa kumakalam na sikmura, sa mga sinisiil, sa mga nakikitil, sa totoong lungsod.

We stand in solidarity with the farmers in Tinang in their struggle for genuine agrarian reform and condemn the illegal arrest and detention of over 90 food security advocates in Concepcion, Tarlac.

Farmers and peasants growing our food subsist in treacherous conditions on a daily scale as a result of the ongoing violence and dispossession perpetrated by the state and oligarchs. The need for vigilance and allyship becomes all the more urgent now as we face these compounding crises at the threshold of the new Marcos-Duterte administration.

Let us call for their immediate release and join the appeal for support to fund the bail. You may reach out to SAKA, Rural Women Advocates - RUWA, or Tambisan sa Sining for monetary and in-kind donations.
