‎Despite showcasing intense charisma, poise and powerful movements, contenders from the Bicol University College of Education (BUCE) were sent packing to a‎first-round ouster today, September 18 at the Em’s Barrio Covered Court as‎ representatives from across colleges delivered a powerhouse performance, ultimately‎ dominating the floor.
‎
‎What was once a quiet space turned into an arena of motion, swirling garments, and‎ explosive energy as dancers from across colleges finally mustered and swayed—each arrying a quiet hope of bringing home the honor of being the bearer of the coveted title.
‎
‎Representing the College of Education in Standard Category are Igi Boy Llames and‎and‎ Jodie Herrera, whereas Michael Jay Mostasa and Jessica Hitosis contested with their‎ fiery movements in Latin Category.
‎
‎𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗚, 𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗦𝗥 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿
‎
‎As the first round in Standard Category ended, dancer duos from BU College of
‎Engineering (BUCENG), BU College of Arts and Letters, (BUCAL) BU Institute of
‎Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation(BUIPESR), and BU Guinobatan led the rank with their precise and mastered footwork, posture and elegance peforming Waltz, Tango and Quickstep, securing their spot for the final round. After an intense‎ showdown, BUCENG won the gold medal.
‎
‎The same held true for the Latin category. Despite showcasing their own bold and
‎competitive moves across the three distinct dances (Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, and Jive),‎ the BUCE couple was still unable to dominate the floor. Ultimately, the dancer duos‎from BUIPESR, BUCAL, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, and BU Polangui‎ were the ones who secured their spots for the final round. These finalists left‎ everything on the dance floor, but in the end, it was BUIPESR who claimed the gold.

‎𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗘'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹

‎While the CE duos have bowed out early, they carry with them the pride of ‎representing the home of teaching excellence. After pouring on effort and hours of quiet practice, relentles discipline, and unwavering perseverance, they successfully‎ delivered a performance enough to give honor to their home college.
‎
‎“Although I was disappointed that we failed to place in the podium for this year's‎ dance sports competition, I am still happy to represent our college and grateful for the‎ journey, ” said Llames, male entrant of BUCE, Standard Category.
‎
‎Driven by purpose and courage, Llames remains eager to return stronger than ever.‎
‎
“If fortunate, it would be my pleasure to represent the home of teaching excellence in‎ the coming years. I will make sure to be more confident and will train more so that‎ [my] next performances will be flawless,” he added.

‎Echoing this sentiment, Latin category female representative Jessica Hitosis shared‎ her determination to bounce back stronger in the upcoming months.

"Since the BU Olympics’27 is still quite far, I will push myself to train more and ‎improve my skills in the upcoming months. I want to learn from my experiences, correct my mistakes, and come back as a better and stronger athlete. More than just‎ winning, I want to prove to myself that I can grow, and I want to make my team and everyone who supported me proud,” Hitosis expressed.

‎Their shared resilience proves that the igniting spirit remains intact among these ‎educators despite a challenging start to the tournament.
‎
‎The spectators spilling onto the floor, the dancers disappearing from the crowd, and‎ the music fading into the background signaled the final curtain call for this year’s‎ Dance Sport tournament. The College of Education may have missed the podium last‎night, but the fire inside their hearts continues to burn brightly—a testament that‎ their journey is far from over. To commemorate the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, all classes in Bicol University will shift in online asynchronous modality tomorrow, September 21, 2026 as per Office Memorandum No. 321, series of 2026.

In line with this, faculty members shall incorporate the historical context, significance, and lessons of the Martial Law period in their respective courses to promote historical understanding critical thinking, respect for human rights, democratic values, and responsible citizenship. 𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜 | 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗙𝗧 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗕𝗨 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 '𝟮𝟲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵

What could've been a dark horse run ended too soon as the BUCE Men's Football Team bid farewell to its BU Olympics campaign for this year, with a 3-1 defeat to the College of Industrial Technology (BUCIT) in the quarterfinals of the tournament last Thursday, September 17.

When the final whistle blew, the BUCE players headed to the bench drenched with sweat—some, even with tears. Jamil Manta, a player who was visibly emotional after the match, had this to say about that moment:

"After ng laban sa BUCIT, napaiyak ako dahil sa sobrang frustrated ako sa sarili ko at nanghinayang sa mga chances na nasayang ko para maka-goal at mabaliktad ang laban. Pero during that moment, naisip ko na isang taon na lang ako sa team."

Manta adds, "Ibig sabihin, may isa pa akong chance para i-redeem ang sarili ko. Gagamitin ko yung experience na ’to para mas mag-improve at babalik ako next year na mas malakas, mas prepared at mas may tiwala sa sarili at aking teammates. Tutuparin ko ’yon para sa sarili ko at para sa team."

The graduating senior players, on the other hand, hold a bittersweet feeling about the conclusion of their tenure with the team. Janzel Milañez, another player, had this words of appreciation for them as he looks back at the bond that they made:

"Ang message ko sa kanila is ano, sana maraming opportunities after college na dumating sa kanila. Very thankful ako sa kanila sa pagiging kuya sa'kin and kay cap na isa sa mga nag introduce at tumanggap sa akin sa team."

Concluding the two-day chess tournament of the annual Bicol University Olympics, the Bicol University College of Education (BUCE) Men’s Chess Team placed fourth overall among 16 teams from different colleges at the IPESR BSESS Building on September 17.

Leading the team’s scoring, Jaime IV Cipriano tallied five (5) points after winning four rounds, drawing two, and losing one. Joining Cipriano, Bregania scored four and a half (4½) points, while Ulat tallied three (3) points and Diesta contributed two and a half (2½) points.

Dominique Musa and Ronan Padilla once again flooded the court with impeccable offense as their dynamics were finally restored.

Bicol University College of Education (BUCE) Table Tennis Men Category Double faced a tough loss after Bicol University College of Engineering (BUCENG), Bicol University Polangui, and Bicol University College of Science (BUCS) snatched the victory. Meanwhile, Jaboli in singles won by default yesterday, September 17, 2026, at the student lounge of the Civil Engineering Building.

In an intense first game against BUCENG, BUCE expressed strategic moves to outsmart the opponent but BUCENG remained persistent and took the first round with the score of 6-11. Not wasting any more time BUCENG led the second set with the score of 2-11.

In the second game against BU Polangui, the BUCE tries catching up with the score, but BUP gets the favor with the score of 11-7 in the first set and 8-11 in the second set. In the last game against BUCS, triumph became impossible as BUCS took over the first set with a score of 2-11. In the final attempt to turn things around, BUCE turn their focus on the offense but BUCS still succeeded in the second set with the score of 11-8 securing the win.

" .. during the game we have lots of errors, we had a lot of things to work on still.. kasi kulang po kami sa practice at wala kaming mapag-practisan sa campus and next year po since we're already fourth year na.. incoming fourth year.. I think ang need namin next year is mag-practice pa talaga and bigyan ng time ang training," said Capinig, emphasizing the need for practice and growth.

Bicol University College of Education (BUCE) Men’s Basketball ended its final tournament game with a 29-45 loss to Bicol University Polangui (BUP) at the BUCENG Gymnasium on Friday, September 18.

The game opened with both teams tied at 4-4 after the first quarter. BUCE held a one-point advantage at halftime with the score at 14-13, keeping the matchup tight through the opening half as the two teams continued to trade baskets.

BUP gained momentum in the third quarter, leaving BUCE behind at 21-34. BUCE fought to close the gap in the final quarter, but BUP sustained its lead to secure the 29-45 victory.

Bagama't naungusan ng kalaban, ang Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon ay nanatiling matatag ang depensa laban sa BU Gubat Campus sa ikalawang laro ng elimination round ng Men's Basketball na ginanap sa BUCENG Gymnasium kahapon, Septyembre 17, 2026.

Hindi man naging madali para sa BUCE dahil sa kaliwat kanang pagbawi ng puntos ng BUGC, pinakita pa rin nila ang galing sa basketball simula unang kwarter, ngunit agad namang humabol ang kalaban sa natitirang ilang segundo at nagtapos sa iskor na 9-11. Habang sa ikalawang kwarter naman ay nagpamalas ng galing ang dalawang kupunan na may iskor na 22-18.

Sa kabila ng dikit na laban at kaunting pagkadismaya dahil sa pag wasiwas ng BUGC sa BUCE, pinatunayan pa rin ng mga manlalaro ang kanilang tibay sa ikatatlong kwarter matapos lamangan ang kalaban sa iskor na 33-30. Ngunit sa huli, nagwagi parin ang BUGC sa huling kwarter sa iskor na 44-49.
