Flick of yellow flew past and went to tree. Thought surely the bird would leave as I came around.

Pleasantly surprised this western tanager was the most chill tanager I have observed, allowing many photo opportunities.

David Allen sibley’s (probably the greatest U.S. birder) friend Mike lead me to the Wilson’s snipe, a lifer

I was birding and asked Mike what is he seeing as I was new to the area

He was looking at a group of Wilson’s snipe but the birds hid and I left to explore

Later, saw Mike and he lead me to the almost camouflaged birds

Fun story

Mike told me the story of how Allen was included in David Allen sibley

Sibley’s book publisher wanted to include Allen as the birder greats of roger Tory Peterson and others included the middle name, even though David didn’t go by that name

Coincidentally before the trip I had read an article in an old Audubon magazine about roger Tory Peterson
