In light of the ongoing energy crisis resulting from the conflict in the Middle East, the City Government of Lapu-Lapu announces the scaling back of activities for the 505th Kadaugan sa Mactan celebration this April. Among the activities to be postponed for this year are the Sadsad sa Kadaugan 2026 Street Dancing and the Grand Ritual Showdown competition.

This decision follows a meeting between Mayor Cindi King-Chan, the City Tourism Office, and event organizers, during which discussions were held and a careful study was conducted on how the 505th Kadaugan sa Mactan will proceed.

The City Government assures the public that the essence of the celebration will remain. The annual Reenactment of the Victory at Mactan, a centerpiece of the commemoration, will proceed as planned. Attendees can also continue to enjoy the nightly activities and the Kadaugan Food Festival, which will feature local small and medium enterprises offering a variety of culinary delights.

The Sadsad sa Kadaugan Street Dancing and Grand Ritual Showdown showcased for the past 3 years vibrant expression of local culture, their rich cultural heritage through music and dance.

The Lapu-Lapu City Government thanks its constituents and visitors for their continued support and understanding.
