The Municipality of Lanuza, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office โ€“ Caraga Region and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, successfully rolls out the Risk Resiliency Program โ€“ Project LAWA at BINHI for the beneficiaries of Barangay Sibahay.

Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) is a Cash-for-Training and Work Program designed to empower vulnerable communities by providing temporary employment opportunities while promoting climate resilience, food security, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

As part of the continued recovery efforts for the 4,088 families affected by Tropical Storm Basyang, we successfully facilitated the distribution of rice subsidy assistance from the National Government, through the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur.

To ensure that assistance reaches every eligible beneficiary, the rice subsidy was delivered directly to the different barangays of the municipality, making the distribution more accessible, organized, and convenient for our constituents.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Governor Johnny T. Pimentel for his unwavering commitment in bringing timely assistance to the people of Surigao del Sur. We also thank the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) for their dedication and support in ensuring the smooth implementation of the distribution.
