"We have come this far by faith, gently carried in the arms of love."

A little throwback to a year ago, when we sang We Have Come This Far by Faith, with words by J. Paul Williams and music by Joseph M. Martin.

The anthem reflects on faith as something that carries us through a long and sometimes uncertain road, reminding us to place our hope in God and trust in His promises.

A year later, this feels like a lovely one to revisit.

"My boat of life sails on an angry sea..."

My Boat of Life by Toga P. L. Rajagukguk uses the image of a boat at sea to reflect on the uncertainties and difficulties we encounter in life. The song moves through moments of fear, anxiety, and hardship before arriving at a quiet assurance: "I am your pilot, you won't lose your way."

With the difficult weather we've been experiencing, these words feel especially poignant. We know many have been deeply affected by the heavy rains and storms, and our thoughts and prayers are with those who are grieving, displaced, or facing difficult circumstances.

May this song be a small reminder of God's presence for those going through rough waters.

"Purihin ang Panginoon, umawit ng kagalakan..."

Purihin ang Panginoon is a Filipino hymn with words by Danilo Isidro, SJ and music by Fruto L. Ramirez, SJ. Its joyful words call us to praise God, especially in times of trouble, remembering the One who hears our cries, saves us from our enemies, and lightens our burdens.

And with another very rainy morning here, the words “Sa ating pagkabagabag, sa D’yos tayo’y tumawag” feel especially timely.

"Do not be afraid, I am with you..."

We could barely hear ourselves in this recording with the rain coming down so hard, but we decided to share it anyway. Sometimes it doesn't have to be perfect—it just has to be offered.

You Are Mine by David Haas is a contemporary hymn centred on God's reassurance and presence, with its repeated reminder: "I have called you each by name... I love you and you are mine."

Today's Gospel, Matthew 14:22–33, tells of the disciples caught in the storm and Jesus coming to them on the water: "Take courage. It is I. Do not be afraid." Somehow, with the rain pouring outside today, those words felt especially fitting.

And with the weather being what it is, we hope everyone is staying safe. Please take care, especially if you need to be out and about.

While waiting for the rain to let up, we happened to catch the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) practicing Room in God’s Kingdom.

The choir isn't the only group making music in our church! 😊

"O Diyos, Ikaw ang laging hanap..." 🎶

A little throwback to this time last year. Heavy rain knocked out the power during choir practice, so we carried on by candlelight instead. It wasn't part of the plan, but it turned into one of those moments we'll always remember.

The hymn, Awit ng Paghahangad, is based on Psalm 63, a beautiful prayer of longing for God's presence. Its opening words, "O Diyos, Ikaw ang laging hanap," express a heart that continues to seek God through every season.

With the rain pouring again this week, this memory felt worth sharing once more. We hope everyone is staying safe and dry.

"Where is bread?" the great crowd murmured...

Written by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette and set to Cyril Vincent Taylor's hymn tune GOD IS HERE, Where Is Bread? reflects on the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand in Matthew 14:13–21.

Beginning with the crowd's question, the hymn reminds us that Christ meets both our physical and spiritual hunger. It also gently challenges us to become part of God's answer—to receive His blessings with gratitude and to share them generously with others.

A thoughtful hymn with a timeless message of compassion, generosity, and trust in God's abundant provision.

"A hungry throng, a wilderness, a deep and gnawing need..." 🎶

Based on the Gospel account of the feeding of the five thousand, Feeding the Five Thousand by Ken Bible reflects on Christ as the One who not only fed the crowd with bread but continues to nourish His people with His very life.

Last Sunday's Gospel, Matthew 14:13–21, reminds us that even what seems small can become more than enough in God's hands. From one boy's lunch came a meal for thousands, revealing God's abundant provision and generous love.

May this hymn remind us that Christ is the true Bread of Life, who continues to satisfy the deepest hunger of every heart.
