The Benguet State University - Center for Culture and the Arts (BSU-CCA) of BSU Buguias campus hosts its second Inter-Campus Socio-Cultural Competition with the theme, โAni ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting.โ The event, held at the BSU Buguias Gymnasium, was participated in by representatives from the Bokod, Buguias, and La Trinidad campuses.
During the opening program, BSU-CCA Director Leonardo L. Samonte chanted a traditional prayer. BSU Buguias College of Education Dean Elizabeth M. Bay-an then welcomed participants from the BSU Bokod campus and their coaches/advisers.
Bay-an also welcomed CCA Director Leonardo L. Samonte, who was accompanied by the advisers of the different BSU-CCA-La Trinidad performing arts groups, CCA staff, and the participants from the La Trinidad campus.
โYour presence is proof that the BSU Bokod, Buguias, and La Trinidad campuses are united and that a vibrant culture thrives in every corner of our beloved campus. On this day, we will not only witness talents but also the courage to proclaim the truth through music, dance, and other forms of art. May this serve as a stage, not just for competition but for understanding, respect, and a deeper appreciation of our rich cultureโ Bay-an said.
The competitions in Quartet, Indigenous, Folk, Contemporary, Street dances, and Short and Sweet Play (Musical) began after Bay-anโs opening remarks. The judges for the Quartet Singing competition are Alma Vida G. Gallardo, Liezl B. Villagracia, and Jericris R. Desumala; Judges for the Indigenous Dance are Melchor S. Lumiked, Dexter Dalignoc, and Modesto P. Angyatao; Judges for the Contemporary, Street, and Folk dance are Jenny V. Esiong, Jefferson Lumiib, and Charvet Caytap; and the judges for the Short and Sweet Play (Musical) are Shean Rhee G. Accad, Alma Vida G. Gallardo, and Paul Joseph N. Nuval.
After the Indigenous Dance competition, a community dance was led by BSU La Trinidad and Buguias campus as a short intermission before moving on to the next competitions.
After the competitions, the judges shared their thoughts on the performances of each group, encouraging them to learn more techniques and continue to grow in their arts.
The La Trinidad campus won first place in the quartet competition, while the Buguias campus won second place. The Short and Sweet Play (Musical) was won by the La Trinidad campus, while the Indigenous dance was also won by La Trinidad campus, ranking first place, Bokod campus in second place, and Buguias campus in third place.
La Trinidad campus won first place in the contemporary dance, with Bokod campus in second place and Buguias campus in third place. For the folk dance, La Trinidad campus won first place, while Buguias campus won second place. As for the street dance, La Trinidad campus won first place, Bokod campus in second place, and Buguias campus ranked third place.
The event ended with the closing remarks of BSU Buguias Cultural Arts Adviser Divinia K. Dominguez.
Dominguez thanked Samonte and the rest of the participants, coaches, and advisers from the different campuses for coming.
