Weaves of Hardwork 🌿📣

Project: Lukay Weaving Times finally concluded after the 4-week course training, held at Sumadja Hall Sulu Area Coordinating Center, Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu, yesterday, 27th of June 2022.

A total of 32 participants graduated and received Certificate of Completion, as they are now entitled young weavers being ambassadors of Cultural Preservation

Ten weavers were recognized as the Top 10 Most Outstanding Weavers, namely:

Ahmad, Insih Ruaina R.
Allani, Nicojaro L.
Anzar, Misra Aina R.
Harun, Morhaida P.
Hassan, Fadila A.
Imamil, Mhay-Ann B.
Karay, Fatime Riesa A.
Mohammad, Eloiza M.
Pawaki, Nurhamin H.
Saji, Frisilda B.

In addition, guests also gave their impactful messages about cultural preservation. Certificates of appreciation have also been awarded to the project's partners for their undying support to the project.

The event was also graced by different guests and partners, youth and school organizations, school publications, and of course, by the participants.

"Our culture is our identity"

The 4-week training course of Project Lukay: Weaving Times , an activity initiated by the Responsive and Proactive Youth-Serving Organization (RAPA-YSO) , has successfully ended today , June 27, 2022, at SACC Sumadja Hall, Capitol Site, Patikul, Sulu.

Thirty-three (33) participants of Project Lukay received their certificates at the event and were labeled as ''weavers" as a form of recognition.

The project was made possible thru the support of the Sulu Provincial Government spearheaded by Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan , PYDO and other partner agencies.

Indeed, preserving culture is significant as it entails history and who we are as Tausug.

Tomorrow's event will also include the recognition ceremony for our 40 dedicated weavers.

Reflection Session ✨

Project: Lukay participants took on the 4th session's reflection session as part of the final activities of the program.

The weavers played various games in the morning. Afterwards, a mail box was made where everyone wrote dedications and messages it 21 and mailed it to their chosen recipients.

Later in the afternoon, the participants shared their reflection of what they have experienced throughout the sessions, where they conveyed their realization and thoughts expressing their feelings and gratitude.

At exactly 2 PM of June 11, 2022, the Participants took their Pictorial at Provincial Livelihood Productivity Training Center, for their graduation.

Everyone showed their beautiful and lively smiles. They are expected to graduate this upcoming 27th of June.

Project: Lukay Successfully Kicks off 3rd Session of Tahmu Weaving Classes

The third session for Tahmu Weaving of Project: Lukay was successfully conducted at Provincial Livelihood Productivity Training Center or TESDA Training Center, Manpower, Indanan, Sulu, last sunday, June 05, 2022.

The program started at 8:30 AM in the morning with fun games and ice breaker to get everyone active and attentive. Afterwards, the official class started. The participants was then taught another two (2) more kinds of tahmu, namely "Itlog" and "Bunga butung", during the rest of the morning session.

After lunch, the afternoon session then commenced which was a continuation of what was taught in the morning session. The tutorial session of how to weave the another two different types of tahmu ended at 4:00. After the tutorial session, the participants was then again asked for an assessment and feedback of the whole event.

Project Lukay Successfully Kicks off 2nd Session of Classes

On May 29, 2022, the second session for Tahmu Weaving of Project: Lukay was successfully conducted at Provincial Livelihood Productivity Training Center or TESDA Training Center, Manpower, Indanan, Sulu.

The program started at 9:00 AM in the morning with fun games and ice breaker. Afterwards, the official class started. The participants was taught two (2) more kinds of tahmu, namely "Butuh Kambing" and "Pusu" or "Jantung"

At 2 PM, an insightful lecture about Business was given by Mrs. Nadayra Sarapuddin Asgali, the Senior Tourism Operations Officer of Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism.

The event concluded at 4:40 PM with an assessment of the participants and feedback.
