Iriga City pays tribute to its most beloved daughter, National Artist Nora Aunor, with a two-day celebration and the project presentation of the Ate Guy Theatre and Auditorium (AGTA).

The first Nora Aunor Day begins today, May 20, and runs until tomorrow, May 21. The City Government of Iriga through its tourism office, is organizing the event. Some of the late national artist's fans, friends and family are expected to attend. Local talents will take part in several contests beginning tonight at the Iriga City Park. These include acting, singing, songwriting and poetry inspired by the films, songs and legacy of the late Superstar.

Na-preserve ng pamilya ni Mother Lily ang malaki at mahalagang bahagi ng bahay ni National Artist Nora Aunor sa Valencia. Nauunawaan ng mga Monteverde na Philippine cinema heritage house ang property na ito.

Bahagi rin ng mahalagang kasaysayan ang pagkakabenta ng bahay na ito. Ginamit ni National Artist Nora Aunor ang pondo para makadalo ang kanyang grupo sa Cannes Film Festival para sa screenings ng Bona. The rest is history kung paano kinilala ang Bona sa buong mundo mula sa Cannes Film Festival. Sa restoration ng Bona, ito ay lehitimong pamana at kontribusyon hindi lang nina Nora Aunor at Lino Brocka kundi ng buong Philippine cinema sa World Cinema. At konektado ang Valencia house sa kasaysayang ito.

Matet’s journey in Philippine cinema began in 1986 with her debut in I Love You, Ma, I Love You, Pa, which also introduced her alongside her siblings Lotlot and Ian. She soon appeared in several horror films that showcased her natural talent and versatility. Her breakthrough came with Bunsong Kerubin, where her heartfelt performance earned her a Best Child Actress nomination at the 1988 FAMAS Awards. That same year, she starred alongside the legendary Fernando Poe Jr. in One Day, Isang Araw, further solidifying her place in the hearts of Filipino moviegoers.
