If children don't grow up knowing about nature and
appreciating it, They will not understand it.
AND IF THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND IT,
THEY WON'T PROTECT IT.

And if they don't protect it, Who will?

Last day of our registration to join the tribe's tradition. Don't miss this chance! 🌿🌱

The forest operates on a different rhythm, one that calls for awareness, discipline, and respect. These are not just rules, they are practices that help preserve the balance of nature and the integrity of local culture.

In Panlauy, you don’t just visit the forest, you learn how to
move with it. 🌿

Our official event Shirt.

Wearing it means you’re part of that story.
Not just a participant, but someone who understands that progress can grow without cutting what matters most.

Panlauy is a way of life of the Higaonon Tribe living within their 13,000 hectares of Ancestral Land which borders Misamis Oriental-Bukidnon-Agusan del Norte. AGMIHICO ( Tribal Organisation ) holds the record of being the first to be awarded with a CADT in Mindanao.

Panlauy is held every month of May. Whole family including infants and toddlers trek inside the virgin forest for 3D2N - foraging food the forest offers and building indigenous shelters using forest resources.

Every year the Tribe use different route - letting the previous ones to recover.

This Tribe is the protector of the 13,000 hectares of virgin forest.

A portion is off limits to hunters, hence, a wildlife sanctuary.

I remember my first Panlauy in 2019...

Datu Mantankilan, the Supreme Datu, said,

" We have to take care of the forest because the forest is our Church, Pharmacy, Hospital and Grocery. "

" If we dont take care of the forest, the lowlanders will suffer with floods and draughts. "

Being a mountaineer and Indigenous People advocate, I'm excited to join them again next month.

The Panlauy route was planned by our lead guide together with the hunters who know the forest firsthand.

This is not a tourist-made trail.
This is the actual route they use and trust.

We follow this path to make sure the experience is safe, organized, and aligned with how the community moves inside the forest.

Limited slots only to manage the flow and protect the area.

If you’re interested to join, send us a message for details and schedule.

Tourism as a Way to Protect the Forest

For generations, our lives have depended on the forest. But we have come to understand that if we continue to take from it without limits, we risk losing it entirely.

That is why we are choosing a different path.

Instead of cutting trees, we are opening our land to visitors, not to exploit it, but to share it. To let people see what we see, to understand what we value, and to hear the stories that live within our forest.

Tourism, for us, is not just an opportunity to earn. It is a way to protect what remains.

Because when more people experience the forest, more people will care for it. And when more voices speak about its importance, it becomes harder to destroy.

We are not offering the forest for consumption.
We are inviting people to witness it, so together, we can protect it. 🌿
