A 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙘𝙚 of Hiligaynon Cinema, returning to its 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚.

Before Hiligaynon cinema found its place in today’s film landscape, there was Ginauhaw Ako, Ginagutom Ako (I Am Thirsty, I Am Hungry), a landmark film believed to be the first-ever full-length Hiligaynon film, released in 1977.

Directed by Quirino “Quin” Baterna and Leonardo Q. Belen, the film was thought to be lost to time. And now, nearly five decades after its original release, we bring this piece of Ilonggo cinema back to the big screen once more!

Come see a piece of history. Come watch where Hiligaynon cinema began.

The ICFest 2026 CALL FOR ENTRIES

ICFest. The Ilonggo Cinema Festival will continue celebrating the Cinema of Western Visayas as we open our gates and portals for your submissions! ICFest 2026 is scheduled to be held this October 2026.
DEADLINE for all film submissions is on August 15, 2026

MAIN GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

ICFest is open to all Ilonggo Filmmakers, old and new...
1. You are qualified to submit if you are either:
A. Ilonggo, by blood or by residency
B. Your film is shot in Iloilo, or in any location within Western Visayas
C. Your film is in Hiligaynon or in any of the dialects of Western Visayas
D. Your film has a story that relates to Ilonggo culture, heritage, mythology, literature, history, or simply tells a story that relates to Ilonggo way of life.
E. Your director, writer, or your actor/s are Ilonggo
(note: film submission/s & filmmaker/s who do not fit the above qualifications will still be admitted to join the festival, but will be assigned to a special section)
2. GENRE: Film can be under any narrative genre or theme. Be it Horror, Fantasy, Mystery, Action, Adventure, Romance, Drama, we are open to all narrative genres.
3. RUNNING TIME: We will impose no restrictions on the running time of film submissions. However...
A. Short films ideally must have a running time of not more than twenty (20) minutes maximum.
B. Full length films ideally must have a running time of not more than one hundred twenty (120) minutes or two (2) hours.
4. Films must have original music and/or original theme songs. We accept films using royalty-free music but we will strongly prioritize engaging films with great technicals that use original music.
5. Film must have English subtitles that are grammatically correct.
6. DISALLOWED: Your film/s will not be allowed if they are either of the following:
A. If your film is blatant Propaganda that promotes illegal activity, crime, and hatred
B. If your film is blatant Propaganda that promotes one-sided partisan political agendas
C. If your film is blatant Pornographic material that violates the boundaries of moral decency
(this festival will properly peruse and study any film submission in order to determine if it crosses the thin line that separates art from po*******hy and propaganda)
