This artwork captures the character of the old corner building, with its distinctive curved façade, layered signs, and enduring architectural presence. Through soft watercolor tones, it portrays the rhythm of everyday city life—people passing by, daily activities unfolding, and a familiar landmark standing quietly amid a changing city.

For many Ilonggos, Socorro Drug Store is more than a landmark. It has become a familiar meeting point and a reference when giving directions.

“𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨.”
A simple phrase, but one that speaks of how deeply this place has become part of everyday life in Iloilo.

Established in 1947, Socorro Drug Store has witnessed generations of Ilonggos and the changing face of the city. Its iconic corner location remains a recognizable part of Iloilo’s streetscape and collective memory.

𝗡𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼.
Everything was painted from observation, right there at the reception.

𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆, 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
We had a limited amount of time to capture the couple and create the painting. There was no long ceremony to observe or multiple moments to choose from.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.
We had to find the right angle, observe the couple, compose the scene, and paint all while the celebration was happening around us.

𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚.
The painting wasn’t recreated afterward from photographs. Every brushstroke was made right in front of the couple and their guests, during their actual reception.

𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩? 𝙉𝙤. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮.

This was our first-ever Live Wedding Painting, and it challenged us in ways we didn’t expect. We had to trust our eyes, our instincts, and every brushstroke while working within a limited time and a constantly moving environment.

There are things we know we can improve, and we’re excited to learn from this experience, to make every painting better, more refined, and even more meaningful with every wedding we paint.

It may not have been perfect, but it was where our Live Wedding Painting journey began. 🤍✨
