Today, we light a candle for a birth.
And in the same flame, we remember a death.

For José Rizal, these two moments cannot be separated. His birth gave us a thinker, a writer, and a dreamer. His death gave us a martyr whose sacrifice helped awaken a nation.

As we commemorate his birthday, we look back on the words, questions, and convictions that continue to challenge us: How do we love our country? How do we carry its stories forward?

For our first day at the AYTF Residency, we wandered through Valencia’s Sunday Market, Paunayan, where stories are traded alongside vegetables, laughter echoes between stalls, and community thrives in every interaction.

Here, the stage is the street, the cast is the community, and every encounter becomes part of the story we carry forward.

“Mahalin mo ang Pilipinas nang mas higit sa iyong sarili.”

As we celebrate Philippine Independence Day, we are reminded that freedom is not only something we inherit, it is something we continue to honor, protect, and fight for.

Today, we fondly remember the last time our Ate’s and Kuya’s from Tanghalang Pilipino brought Mabining Mandirigma to our very own Urdaneta Auditorium. Their powerful performance left an unforgettable mark on our stage, our community, and our hearts. We miss seeing them here in Iloilo and continue to celebrate the artistry and passion they bring to Filipino theater.

This evening, the journey continues as Mabining Mandirigma: A Steampunk Musical sets sail once more at the Metropolitan Theater Manila.

As one chapter closes and another begins, USA Little Theater proudly celebrates two members of our Multimedia Team who are taking their final bow as students and stepping into exciting new stages of life.

Congratulations to Kurt Benedict Carolino and Zedrick Wyne Que on your graduation! Your creativity, dedication, and countless contributions behind the scenes have helped bring our stories to life, frame by frame and design by design.

This month reminded us that it’s okay to pause, to feel, to ask for help, and to listen, to ourselves and to one another. Through every episode of Prodcast, we hope to create a space where stories are shared, feelings are validated, and no one has to navigate life’s challenges alone.
