With the pandemic, most people stay at home due to the work from home and online learning setup we have, thus we often enjoy home cooked meals to satisfy our daily needs or our cravings. However Limon (2021) reveals that foodborne disease (FBD) outbreaks happen more frequently with home-cooked meals than from food establishments, this can be due to that the person preparing or handling the food is not equipped with enough knowledge about food borne bacteria or are inexperienced when it comes to practicing food safety protocols/practices which increases the risk of food borne disease outbreaks. Moreover, foodborne disease (FBD) outbreaks are caused by food handling or preparation errors such as improper cooking or storage practices, reheating, undercooking, cooling of food, inadequate preparation, cross contamination, insufficient processing and poor hygiene.
Recognizing these problems, we, 3rd year BS Biology students of West Visayas State University, share our infographics to impart awareness of the common food borne disease causing bacteria, its sources, effects, and preventive measures.
