We are not afraid of the dark, we fear the unknown.

Get enticed with the late August symbolic horror experience with the Cinematheque Centre Iloilo screenings of ‘Yanggaw’ directed by Richard Somes and ‘Wanted: Border’ by Ray Gibraltar, in partnership with the Places, Pieces program.

Yanggaw follows the story of a young woman who one day falls into the afflicted trap where she begins to transform into an Aswang. It communicates the gradual descent into the fearful unknown where the stillness bears both comfort and uncertainty.

On the side of terror, Wanted: Border presents us with the character of Mama Saleng who transforms her boarding house into a medium of fanatic ex*****on where she believes to be saving these people’s souls by eating their flesh.

While these stories are explicit tales of folk horror, prepare for layered themes on how people interact with the fearful present in oneself and the community.
